Can I use another email provider with my GoDaddy domain?

I've missed a few emails recently, and I'm hearing now that others have this problem with GoDaddy's email platform as well - emails being filtered but not going into Bulk (where you should be able to see what was filtered, and retrieve it if necessary).

I see an inevitable catastrophe in my future if I continue to use this email platform, when eventually I miss a very important email of some kind. But can I use another email provider with my GoDaddy domain? If so, how?

I've got some of my domains from Godaddy, however I'm not using any email from them.
I got my emails from were I host the domains (Hostgator)

Are you using Godaddy to host your sites?
If you are using Godaddy to host your sites in that case I've no idea if you
could get emails from someone else.

I've read here from the experts that it is not a good idea to use same provider for domains and hosting, that's why I use diferent provider for hosting.

That would work; I'm already moving my hosting elsewhere as we speak. How did you set it up so that your host's email platform works with your domain at GoDaddy?

Get hosting from other provider and change your DNS (Domain Name Server)
        on your Godaddy account.

I didn't realize changing the hosting would automatically make the new hosting work with the domain's email. If so, that was much easier than I expected (and I'm surprised I didn't find it when I searched Google). I'll try it out.

    Thanks,
    Jon

yes, you can keep your hosting and Name Server at GoDaddy and only change your email host.
go to Zone Editor and edit your domain zone file (change MX records).
I recommend to use Google Apps for email needs, see details here: Configuring Your MX Records: GoDaddy.com - Google Apps Help

Although I personally do not like GoDaddy hosting after using them, but fine.
