Daily time to spend on IM

hey guys,

I was just hoping to get some insights on this

If you start out with building some affiliate sites and start learning SEO and implementing it, what would be the minimum amount of time you would have to spend each day to keep going at a steady pace?

I'm just asking this because I'm about the cut the rope and go for it

I don't want and can't spend 8 hours a day or more...

My ideal is 2 hours a day maybe 3 once in a while - Is this ridiculous? Will this get me anywhere?

Another thing is how long should I study SEO etc. before I can start building a good site and rank it "the good way" so google is gonna love me and keeps me there for the long haul

Thanks for all your kindness so far

Ben

Anything you do is better than nothing...

remember that sitting in front of the computer does not mean your actually working, so if you are actually doing 2 hours a day of IM work then you are on the right track

    Work hard and work efficiently

Your success online depends on your dedication to make things happen. It's best to spend 4 hours a day at least with your business. 1 hour for training and 3 hours for marketing, connecting, etc. Whatever you do as long as it produces results, it's good for you. I'm spending roughly 4-6 hours a day on my business. I love it though so time moves so fast. lol Know what I'm sayin?

There's certainly a learning curve with SEO, but, if you have very limited time, I'd consider just starting out by churning out high quality, original, content. See how it performs earnings and traffic wise. On top of that, this has been debated to no end here, but, personally, I'd shoot for 800-1,000 words in length for articles. Use a combination of monetization strategies, such as amazon, google adsense, and chitika, dispersed throughout that article.

When I first began learning SEO, I quickly learned that it was an ever-evolving beast to capture and tame. Talk to 100 SEO "experts" and they'll tell you 100 different things that would do, and keyword ratio/densities they would use....it will be enough to make your head spin. What I did was....I went to Amazon, typed in "SEO", and grabbed 1 or 2 books about SEO (after reading a few reviews, of course). Knowing the ever-evolving nature of search engines, try to sythesize a few strategies that you feel you can implement immediately into your content. I'd definitely spend some time learning, but, as you produce content, you'll get more and more experience....see what topics/articles stick and gain traffic and views, and which don't. Trial and error, at least to some degree, is to be expected.

As long as it takes you.

I would work everyday for as many hours as possible to get this done and over with.

But don't spend too much time everyday. I would say that you can sit at your computer for 4-6 hours just to get this done as fast as possible.

I often have a side project that I spend about 1 hour a day on 5 days a week.

Usually, I find that is enough time to do things that allow me to slowly can traction in whatever niche that is.

IM really doesn't take as much time as you think once you know what to do. But it does take a lot of time to learn what to do.

Spending 2 - 3 hours a day is just fine. It works for me and it's worked for a lot of people. Once you are sure that those hours you spend are dedicated to Internet marketing and not to instant messaging or social networks. You need to absolutely focus!

You can check an eBook from a fellow warrior here, The 15 Minute Marketer (it is a WSO)...it really helped me.

I've always found that a laser focused 2-3 hours of productivity beats 8-10 hours of how most people spend their time trying to make money online.

As much time as you can spare is the best amount of time The harder you work, the more results you will get.

However, this isn't always possible. I try to put in at least an hour or 2 everyday. But most days I do 4-5 hrs.

If you could spend at least an hour a day doing a plan consistently, you should do well.

The key is the "plan". If you are just doing this and that with no plan or any idea anything you are doing will actually work, you may never get where you want to be.

There are many on here who have reported working on sites for months and even years and not making any money.

Yet, there are others who find something, and make money in a matter of days and then build it to an income over a few months or so.

I'm sure everyone would suggest that you do whatever worked for them. In that light, what worked for me and what I recommend not matter what else you do, build a list sooner than later.

Once I learned the basic techy part of it, it actually wasn't that hard.

Find one method that someone has actually used and there are many for free on this forum with step by step instructions so don't spend any money for it and stick with it at least an hour a day, every day.

Of course, the more you can work on it, the faster you will see results.

    Good luck.

2-3 hours a day is realistic as long as you know what you're doing.

Also, you can always hire outsourcers to do most of the work while you work on other important things... this way you'll not only save a lot of your time but also make progress in your IM journey a lot faster because you will be able to get more done, than you sitting around trying to learn and read everything there is and then implementing it ineffectively.

And hey, don't think hiring outsourcers requires a lot of money and stuff... you can get them pretty cheap if you know where to look at

2 hours of focused work will definitely get you somewhere.

You could bang out a quick roadmap of what you are going to do for those two hours over the course of say two week or a month period and really try to stick to it.

As far as SEO, check out the stickies in the SEO forum right here on WF and then just get started. Focus on good quality back links and avoid any black hat methods and then measure your results to see what you need to work on.

How many sites are you building? Whats your competition strength? What tools are you using? And are you outsourcing anything? Those are my initial questions. If you're doing everything on your own and your competition is high, it could take a good amount of time. If your competition is low, you're using great tools, and you're outsourcing some of it, it can take you a few minutes a day per site.

    Just set daily tasks.

Once your task for that day are completed, then so are you.

There's nothing wrong with spending 8-12 hours per day working on your internet business if you're doing something constructive with your website (ie: getting traffic, creating campaigns to sell more to your existing customers).

Any time you can devote to your IM will be a benefit. The more time you have, the better.

Honestly? Start a site now, and work on it. Even if it bombs, learning by doing is the best way to learn. If you keep studying, you're going to miss the biggest part of the IM business:

    Taking action.

All the knowledge in the world won't help if you don't take action.

And, that 2 hours, 3 at most? You can do it, but you need to make that time count. 2 hours a day, if you're spending time goofing off online, won't get you anywhere. Make sure your time counts.

Work 2 hours with focus and dedication . But yes , u need to know what you are doing keeping the end objective in mind.Otherwise u will end up doin R & D and end up with zero results..out of these 2 hrs ,dedicate half an hour just to learn and remaining time to execute and implement.

It all depends on your schedule.

For example, I still have a day job, so I just squeeze in an hour or 2 before work whenever I can.

I really hate doing SEO though so I put aside $20-$40 a paycheck and just outsource the work.

You should be fine. I work four hours a day, and I only market and write. I outsource most everything else, except my email...and I hope to get rid of it, too.

Well let's see here... you could spend HOURS a day "trying" to do SEO, spending hundreds of dollars on software, countless man hours. Or you can outsource your SEO and work on creating new niche sites, original content, and products, it's all up to you.

I keep noting my idea in small scrap book, sit and prioritize those things latter, and do those things in hour or two. this method I feel is very effective and efficient, very importantly I can track my 'idea and implementation'.
