A very small initial step in IM venture

Dear Warrior Brothers,

I have taken a very small initial step in my IM venture. Somebody told me today that registration of domain name is available for USD 1.99 at Cheapname.com till midnight today. Although, I was not ready with any domain name, I decided to register CBNET.com (my WF ID). It was not available; therefore, in a hurry to take advantage of discount, I registered CBNETT.Com without any plan in place about what I will do with it. I look forward to comments from veteran warriors about following:
(i) Is it ok to register cbnett.com, as cbnet.com of my 1st choice was not available.
(ii) As of now, I do not have any plan ready in place about how I will use/monetize this domain name, I welcome seasoned warriors' suggestions about what to do next. Objective is to have some source of income

Thanks & Regards..........cbnet

The name wouldn't matter of course except for the seo value if you're trying to rank for cbnet only, otherwise just move on with the one you've got.

As for making money online, I’d say start with affiliate marketing but keep in mind that the real money is made with your own products. Don't let the stiff competition in affiliate marketing scare you away. There are some strategies you can use to effectively find your feet in this.
    1. Choose a good product to promote
Do not make the common mistake of selling the popular products everyone else is selling. Do a simple research first to know if the product is in demand in the market. Also, make sure that the product you'll choose is of good quality.
    2. Do some pre-selling
Most affiliates conduct pre-selling to qualify the leads they will be referring to the merchant's page. This will increase conversion rates because only interested individuals will see the sales page. One thing you can do here is to buy the product you are promoting, and write an honest review about it.
    3. Be capable enough of driving traffic to the merchant's sales page
This is basically the most difficult task you’ll face. In doing this, you should decide first how you will attract traffic towards your affiliate website. You can go for paid advertising or you can spend time creating authority sites that are content rich and with affiliate advertising placed within them. It is good if you can use both strategies.
The nature of the traffic you drive to your affiliate site also matters. You should be able to send highly-targeted traffic, or else, your conversion rates will not be sufficient to cover the cost of advertising.

Dann Vicker has given you great advice. Affiliate marketing is the way to go.

You can find some great products here:

    Clickbank.com
    Commission Junction
    Pepperjam network
    Paydotcom
    Jvzoo.com

Populate your site with quality and relevant content and don't forget to use your keyword liberally.

SEO (search engine optimization) is important but don't obsess about it. If you provide great content, do some guest posting and comment on relevant blogs, that will take care of the traffic.

Don't forget to make use of social networks like facebook and twitter to promote your site too.

Take it one day at a time and devote at least 6 months to making this work. You are on the right track.

Personally I'd skip over affiliate marketing and go straight into your own products, but if you want to feel free.

If you do, just remember, it's all about list building.

I totally agree with Cataclysm. List building to start then on from there. It could help your blogging empire (if you plan to go that way), as you got instant traffic at the start, and they may share your content across the internet from your blog.

    Hi,

You can do this and good job on getting started. At the same time, I would caution you to exercise... 'caution' when it comes to spending money without a plan, unless you are spending money on a plan. No matter how good the sale or deal, until you know that you need something and are ready to use it, don't buy it.

Get to reading here on the forum, there is a TON of good advice. Once you know a bit more you can decide what you will focus on first. Then, you might want to purchase a WSO on the topic, try to find a "Step-by-Step" guide.

Follow the guide and become successful with that method, and then scale up and move forward!
