It seems to me that they have a few BIG competitors and have dropped the price a lot.

I personally will always use them because they are the best in my view.

Guys, although this offer is great, you should also consider $2.95 / yr offer from GoDaddy. Why? Simply because it allows for MULTI-YEAR discount. Let's do some simple math

this offer: 2.50 first year + 7.50 renewal = 10 dollars for first 2 years
    2.95 multi-year offer = about 6 dollars per first 2 years

If you are going to have that name for longer than 2 years (and you should), then the math is even more dramatic.

The other thing to note is that the multi-year offers are only working for .COM names. So if you need let's say .ORG you would have to use this $2.50 code.

Just my $0.02, and the choice is obviously yours ....

This is a VERY good post reply!

So put all your "investment / long term" .com purchases on 10 year blocks = $25 TOTAL each not $100-275 each!

Buy a "flip / dev / short term investment" on the POTOGOLD (while it lasts!) code, multiple accounts in family / friends details (ask first!) then sell next day

Nice saving, good 10 year investments (unlike any savings account at mo!) all round!

This is absolutely great to know.

Do you know how long the promo codes will be good for?

can you buy multiple domains or are you limited to just one?

This is great about both Network Solutions and Go Daddy offering chepo name registration!

    thanks

Why would you support GoDaddy when they supported SOPA? I have zero tolerance for any legislation or supporters of legislation that threatens to censor the internet. Being that most of us are dependent on the internet for income, you should have the same stance.

Buy domain from GoDaddy at $2.49 and transfer to another registrar after 2 months.

They are actually losing money on your order. So get yours when it is still available.

I thought they retracted from SOPA.

It's a difficult problem since some people clearly don't care about Copyrighted material... and I did not see why GoDaddy would even need to enter that realm. But just like Microsoft, I'm pretty sure that at some point they realized it wouldn't help them (to the contrary.)

The code will expire after 10,000 domain names are purchased through this code.

Thanks for this...I do notice GoDaddy keeps 'creeping up' the promo price each month, though still a very good deal.

If you Google "Domain" the first couple ads are for discounted domain names. Godaddy is $2.95 for a dotcom, Register is $2 for a dotcom.

At first glance it seems like a great deal, but if you get sick of GoDaddy for whatever reason and wish to transfer your domain, you may regret having taken advantage of this 'deal' in the first place.
