Help with adding more user value to a site

Hi all,

I've been developing numerous sites over the past couple of years all in various equipment/products people can by. My approach has generally been to write good content on various pieces of equipment along with why I think each is good, the different colors, sizes, etc. My ultimate goal is for a user to obviously click on one of my links and purchase a product from a merchant.

I haven't lost any ranking which means I think I am doing things in the "right" way for, but I am curious and looking for suggestions to improve my sites from a user perspective and adding more value. I am not sure if the plain old item description is going to cut it for much longer.

Should I consider adding polls to each page so people can say if they like a product? Should I try to add more compare prices features?

I would love to do what other e-commerce sites do in terms of allowing people to review products, etc. But I don't think this is possible on a affiliate site. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The old sales mantra goes "sell benefits, not features" - which are you describing? Maybe you can change your text to emphasize the benefits that customers will get from the products rather than describing the quality and capability of the products themselves?

To add value, why not have some articles that answer particular questions in your niche.

i use this tool https://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/keyword-questions to find out what questions people are asking, i then write an article and put a product link in the article. EG what is the best LCD TV, write an article on what makes a good LCD tv and put a product link in the article to your best rated LCD tv Review or send them straight to the merchants sites highest rated TV.

      Hi guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I like them quite a bit! My thinking was describing the advantages/disadvantages of each product on a page would provide benefit to users. I always thought a price comparison tool might also help.

Hi all, just thought i'd bump this as I have come back to it with the recent updates. Does anyone else have any suggestion for product based affiliate sites? Is it only sustainable for providing reviews, answering people's questions, etc? Ultimately I believe that affiliate sites that "trick" users to click on links providing the same information others are already doing will not be sustainable.
