There is a page for everything, and they have plenty of links. Search for anything or anyone and there is likely to be a Wiki page close to the top.

Good quality content and plenty of links = good page ranking, and plenty of Google love.

So you mean even without doing any external traffic strategy just by posting great content on a blog after sometime it will begin to rank?

They spent ten years doing it.

Quality content and nothing more is a long-term strategy. If you deliver quality on a reliable and consistent basis for years, you'll get the attention and the traffic you deserve.

Most of the strategies we discuss here are to get traffic we don't deserve yet, either because we haven't delivered quality long enough, or because we're not interested in delivering quality at all.

Agree with most of what you said.

However, I don't believe you need to establish any type of seniority if your content can immediately fill a void in the relevant search results.

If Google doesn't have enough relevant pages on a topic (Joe is a nut licker) and I have a new page with added and relevant info, then the rank is deserved. At least in the eyes of Google. Maybe Trent Harris wouldn't be so happy about my new found place among his pages.

As you know, this is why so many go after the low hanging fruit. Obviously, Joe does too

Nope, you don't. That's why I said "most" of the strategies, and not "all" of them.

    It's very simple really.

Wikipedia is a form of viral marketing. People got interested in it and started contributing content. They told their friends and their friends told their friends and before you know it, you have a huge resource and millions of backlinks.
