Success with free sites.

I was wondering if anyone on here has had any success with IM and using free sites such as weebly or yola.

Have you been successful?
Which platform did you use? (i.e. weebly)

Thanks.

I've used wordpress.com, blogger, and blog.com., but not as the main site.

However, I've seen Blogger sites being monetized with Amazon widgets as well as adsense.

It really depends on what you need the website for. If you are not using them as your main money site, but for promoting / getting backlinks for your main money site, then they work well.

Just remember to keep a backup somewhere of your content just in case they decide to change their terms or boot you out for whatever reason.

    Good luck.

Creating free websites would definitely be a good way to practice making websites, but if you want to earn some serious money from a site, you are going to need to buy your own domain.

You might get away with it in a non-IM niche, at least temporarily, until you see some money coming in - once you start to see some earnings you will actually WANT your own domain, as you have control over what happens to it.

I wouldn't recommend using a free site for the IM niche, though... after all, if you make all this money from your method then why is it hosted on a free site?

some limitation will always with you in a ranted house but when you are at the starting stage then its good but after all you have to have a your own house for complete freedom.
So my dear frnd its good for back-linking and as supportive site for your main site.

Thank you all for your responses, but I think you misunderstood what I was looking for. I am not asking for your advice or a list of limitations on the use a free site, I'm simply looking for people who have had success on these sites.

You wouldn't be laughing If you seen the money.

The thing that most IMers don't get about free host/pages is, most of the non-IM, non-techy web traffic could care less who the host is.

I have an old blogspot site which does very well with Adsense, also has an email list & monetizing the emails with Adsense.

I never was one to give up free money.

I personally haven't had success with free sites, mainly because I don't build them. BUT, I have seen other Warrior's state before that they made some money through weebly sites, but then when they realised the site wasn't owned by themselves they had to upgrade the sites so they were in control of their growing business. This is the best answer I can give based on other Warrior's success, but I think it's kind of more of what you wanted to hear.

    Jack.

Ive had more succes with free sites than with my own domain and paid hosting site. Blogger and squidoo are probably the top 2 followed by hubpages, yola, weebly, blinkweb and a few others. 95% of my online income is generated with free sites.

I'm making quite a bit with squidoo right now. I haven't used weebly or yola. I did hubpages for a bit but they aren't doing well traffic-wise right now.
