tons of fraudulent charges on my site - can I do anything about it?

starting last week, someone chose my site to test credit cards that I presume they bought/stole.

I'm just voiding the transactions but this is getting really ridiculous and the totals are now over a thousand dollars. I'm getting several of these a day and it's turning into a gigantic PIA. I feel awful for all these people whose cards were stolen.

I am seeing a few common threads with all these orders - all over over $100, all use a yahoo account, all have a weird email name and list a vague business name. When I check my credit card processing, there are many more orders that were declined.
All come from a different IP and I might think these were legitimate if I wasn't already wise to this. The first order in this series went to a bogus address and has a disconnected number and thats how I started looking at the rest. Some go to legit addresses, and I may have shipped (almost shipped a couple) but if I call the number the people who answer say there's no one in the household by that name and they didn't order.

I've called the credit card companies, payment processing companies, FBI internet division, etc, and every single response was that it wasn't their deal and there was nothing I can do but void the transactions. There was a general apathy all around, which I'm furious about.

Anyone have any ideas for stopping this?
I'm considering turning off credit card processing and doing paypal only, but will that fix it or will they just start using paypal?
