Clickbank: Can you get commision for a product you buy for yourself?

Hey I want to buy this clickbank product. Instead of paying full price can I just buy it through my affiliate link? It pays 75% commission. So would this result in me only paying 25% of the cost? or does this violate some kind of rule?

  • You can use it for yourself, but if you have dear friends in marketing you can also exchange links to get reciprocal commissions. That is what I do everytime I buy something on CB

Yes, you can - as long as you don't then ask for a refund.

It doesn't say this in the rules, but if you make a habit of buying through your own link and asking for refunds, the reality is that ClickBank will part company with you, at some point. But other than that - no problem.

(This is why some affiliates never promote any products in the "IM market", because many of the potential customers are themselves already ClickBank affiliates and will buy those products through their own affiliate links - so it's much harder to get paid on them.)

Many people also buy one or two $3/$4 products through their own links as a way of qualifying for the Customer Distribution Requirement, and that works, too (note that the requirement is for 5 different credit-cards, not for 5 different customers).

Thanks! This is a good way to reach the Customer Distribution Requirement. I had more than 5 different customers buying through my affiliate link but nearly everyone paid with PayPal.

Of course you can..Most of the newbies out there tend to do that.

When i first started with IM and had absolutely a clue of how to make money, i did the same thing to see if it's working!I was very happy to see that i got a commission from my self! LOL

If you're new to ClickBank, note (from Accounting Policy - ClickBank) that:

    Customer Distribution Requirement

ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until the following criteria is met:
Sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers; and,
Sales made with two different payment methods (either Visa, MasterCard, PayPal or European Direct Debit(ELV)). Note: PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum 5 different credit card numbers.

This requirement is in place to help prevent Affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of fraudulently collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own purchases.

Once you have met the Customer Distribution Requirement, your account will begin issuing payments normally, in accordance with our Accounting Policy, beginning on the next payment issuing date.
