Trying to figure it out. How do you use Twitter to get traffic?

Share follows with people interested in my niche who would be the most likely group to view my articles when I tweet them from WP.

Just use it, make converstion, and then eventually they will click your link. I would not get on there and go crazy spamming your program.

Kinda like a party, you wouldn't go to a party walk in and start trying to sell something. You have to mingle a little bit first. most people will just check you link out, won't even have to mention it.

Then every once in a while throw it out there. Also if you reply to people, it is seen by your followers and theirs. that is a little secret I have come across.

But yeah, take your time, and build your presence a little on their. Just like anything else, it takes time to grow a network.

There's a WSO about this right now. Tweettastic Twitter Traffic Revealed, I believe. Solid info, useful. I used it last night to tweet about a site I worked on recently, and got two leads for web development gigs as a result.

I'm new to Twitter. I resisted it for a long time. It seems like almost any other new thing -- it's quickly becoming a vehicle for spam.

Also, I think some people are using it like they used to use Instant Messaging...which I find rude...for some reason I don't undersand.

I visit Twitter a few times a day to observe conversations happening between interesting people I'm following. And every once in a while I'll say something.

But my opinion is Twitter is too new and evolving too rapidly for me to understand it or spend much time trying. I'll let other people figure it out and then I'll buy the best course that 'splains it to me.

    Best wishes to you!

Are you on Twitter? I'm addicted to Twitter and Social Media - vBulletin Services
I've been tinkering around with IPBSetup, but still love vBulletin. Which is the best, vBulletin or IP.Board?

I just installed it in January and you can see how my activity jumped
        TweetStats :: Status
It helped me because than I could make groups and searched for phrases that I'm interested in, and I can keep track of what was at the time, 600 followers.

It's been great for me too. I joined last August or so, but didn't really get active on it until the end of October or so.

On my blog, for the year, Twitter was my third largest source of traffic.

So far this year, it's around #2. But, if it weren't for a specific image that is inexplicably popular in Google, Twitter may be my largest traffic source. And, I don't tweet every blog post I make either.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

New there, too, and just Tweeted U

Learning the ropes from an interview with Perry Belcher by Yanik - also both Warriors. Looks like you can really reach out socially this way.

Others above are right, though. Watch the spamming and just have fun. Similar to here, join in discussions.

I never advertise my blog in twitter, only put my link on my profile but got a decent amount of traffic from twitter.

I'm pretty sure if you make yourself interesting like Dana or Frank Kern do, many would see your profile and go to your site without filling twitter with updates of your blog.

Twitter is the number one source of traffic to my website. The best way that I've found to drive traffic is to write a useful post on my site, and then link to it from Twitter with a short summary of what the post is about - something like "Here's my list of free press release distribution sites", and then the link to the post.

Doing that can literally send several hundred visitors in a day - and they are very targeted because they chose to click on that link.

I am late to the Twitter party too ...

I got an email from Marlon Sanders the other day and he had a video that showed how he uses TweetDeck to manage his "tweets." So I just installed that.

And he also spoke very highly of Dana's Twitter Goldrush product ... so there's an unsolicited testimonial.

I'm gonna grab Dana's WSO and see if I can get the hang of Twitter this weekend.

Marlon is AWESOME. All hail Marlon.

As for what is the point of Twitter - think of it as a big online chamber of commerce where you can go everyday and network with thousands of people. What's not to love?

Twitter is great for building traffic. People can search by using twitter.grader and finding you. I think it's great and yeah if people spam, then people usually stop following you. I also like the widget that you can put on your website.
