Conversion rate varies greatly depending on the market, price point, traffic source, etc. so it's good of you to ask questions about those factors as well.

The average conversion rate across all industries, according to conversionchronicles.com (n/a) is 2.3%.

The better your copy and layout are, the more laser targeted your traffic is, and the less competition you have, the better that number will be.

Most of my recent testing of direct-response style sales letters points to having just video on the page as converting the best (there's no According-to-Hoyle rule but on average this is the case). This means just video beat out just text, and video with text, which I would have assumed to be the winner because it suits all learning modalities.

As I thought about it further, though, I can see why "just video" (with no option to skip ahead) can work really well -- because the viewer is forced to go "through the motions" of the copy, i.e. their desire WILL be raised before they learn the price point, and not vice versa as often happens when text is an option.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I think low ball offers really throw the curve on this one.

In other words, stuff on Amazon.com that is 3 dollars is obviously going to convert at like 10 percent.

If you removed those and looked at reasonable price ranges, I would guess the average conversion rate from products around 50 dollars up to 200 dollars is probably about 1 percent.
