Article traffic for incentive sites?

Hey guys, one thing im confused about is article writing for traffic. I understand how it works for certain niche sites, but is it something that could be used for an incentive site? Im running a raffle site at the moment that raffles off big prizes to visitors that take the time to complete my download offers. I was sitting here trying to think of articles that could be written and linked back to my site and this seems very difficult. First I thought maybe I could do reviews of products that link back to my free prizes, or maybe just articles related to getting free things. Not sure sure if this is worth the time. Just wanted to hear your thoughts about this since most of you guys have alot more experience then me with online marketing.

Cheers
Dustin

You could try submitting some guest posts on blogs relating to your niche. You're normally allowed a few back links from your "author resource box" too, so you can use that to rank better for particular terms in Google and other search engines.

Then you'll end up with some traffic from your guest posts hopefully and also more organic traffic from search engines

I agree with Adam. Also, you could make some articles on squido or hubpages around reviews of products you're giving away.

Do search engines pick up articles submitted into article directories rather quickly?

You'd usually be best asking this in the SEO section.

But it depends on a bunch of different factors so it's really hard to say, Google isn't that keen on article directories though.

Personally I've found that Google is quicker to index pages than Bing for example, way quicker in fact, even after a few months and a lot of back links, Bing had still only indexed a few of my links ( I am speaking generally hear about one of my blogs though).

Are you looking for instantaneous traffic? Even of google isn't that fast indexing articles it's still a good idea. Everything helps right.

thx for the help guys, Im just looking for additional stuff I can do to bring in more traffic. The more instant the better but I know some things take time. Ive moved a good bit of traffic with ppc ads and just looking to add to that. I have a great seo package being filled at the moment that should help me out a good bit once they come through. Im just trying to think of others ways in the meantime.

It seems like incentive websites have a different mindset then most niche sites since you are not building traffic through infomation or services. Theres nothing im going to teach through a giveaway site, so Im mostly curious how others would market such a site. If you had a giveaway site how would you bring traffic to that site other then paying for ads? Here was my initial thinking, maybe you guys could share your thoughts

*Pay Per click Ads - Works well but your paying high costs for members this way.

*SEO/Backlinks - This will pay off later on, but not exactly great for getting a site launched that depends on members to keep the raffles moving along.

*Articles - Hard to think of articles to write that I could relate back to giveaways. Maybe reviews of products that im giving away, but might be a little odd linking a "Kindle Fire Review" for example to a prize raffle site.

*Solo Ads - This might be a good option if I can find somebody that has a nice email list pertaining to people that like online freebies or raffles and have them mail out to their list to gain members.

    Just thinking out loud here...

If you had to market my site in my sig how would you go about it?

There are a couple of catergories for this. Contests is one. There are a lot of people who love to enter contests. Surveys are also hot and related. You could create a section on your blog for contests and write articles for it. Once they were indexed you could submit them to directories, though I would be looking to add them to authority sites about contests and related topics.

If you're looking for a quick way to get traffice to just a single event where the clock is ticking this approach might not be for you. But if you do a lot of this type of promotion you might consider putting up a site for it and then write and publish lots of syndicated content for it.
