My site is going stale and would like some input for a freshen up. My kennel is ranked 1 in oz for my keywords in google and getting lots of quality traffic but I don't think i'm monopolising on the sites real potential. I'm building a list that is extremely responsive to my emails... At this point, i send out 1 email to my list approx every 6 months and that email generates around $10,000 - $20,000 in sales within a few hours of sending it out. This is the email that tells everyone what puppies we have for sale. The rest of the year, all my site seems to do is gather more leads and maybe a few hundred dollars with adsense. My poor list... I would love to talk to them more often but have no idea what to talk to them about. I have nothing to offer them except the puppies. I'm sure there must be hundreds of things to talk about or reccomend to my list and website visitors but I just can't think of anything.... Mental block ? It is kind of weird... I know. How can a guy with no IM skills... on a busted old pc living on some farm create a number 1 ranked site, build a good sized list and become recognised world wide as an authority within my market run out of good ideas and things to say or offer to my visitors and email list. I would love to get some advise or ideas from you guys that can make my site more rewarding for my visitors and customers. Thanks very much. Anthony |

Anthony, you should be looking at getting in touch with your list much more frequently dont run the risk of them forgetting who you are... Think to yourself, if you owned a dog what would you want to know? 1. Dog care tips 2. Food for dogs 3. Training tips Think along those lines and create content which can help the everyday Jo Blogg's who has a dog.. Your the expert remember! |

Hi Sonny, Thanks for the tip mate. You see, these dogs are my life and I suppose I would know a great deal more about them than the ordinary dog owner. The info and knowledge I have learned over the years is all stored up I suppose I have just been thinking that because I know it... must be common knowledge and not important to others. Within my tight market... I seem to be the guy others copy ideas from with regard to sales angles, web scripts, etc. I've got no other breeders to swipe ideas from because most of them are in the cave man era when it comes to IM and web design/reaching potential etc. I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks, Anthony |

hey Anthony welcome from a fellow Aussie. Why don't you start a blog on your site, post at least once a week and send that in an email once a week... What your dogs did this week, the care you took with your dogs, funny / amusing, cute pics, testimonials, any problems your dogs had and how you got around them, updates of puppies, shows, breeding etc etc etc. Aren't dog owners more pathetic about their babies than parents are about their kids? hahahahah You know how parents do that whole 'look at my baby photos' thing - I'm sure dog owners are like that - at least I am about my Sid Vicious - my adorable Staffy Boxer - or Stoxer as I like to call him LOL - share with them and encourage them to be involved on your site too - a blog with comments or a forum - you could also check if other dog breeders have forums and see what they do. Start looking at the time you spend with your dogs, what are you doing with them, I'd think that anyone who buys a pedigree dog from you, or is considering buying one would be interested in all of this. The products you use - do they have affiliate programs - if not it doesnt matter you can still write about them, why do you use them etc etc. I know Bulldogs have some 'interesting' habits - write about them. Sit down with a piece of paper each day and write what you've done with your dogs, find a way to make that a blog post or an email. And thanks for the heads up BTW - my besites daughter breeds Staffys so I must go look at her site and see how i can help her LOL OOooo-oooo AND you can take vids of your babies and post them on all the vid sites - thru tubemogul and put the link back to your website as the very beginning of the description field. hahaha - I'm gettin all excited now! |

I'm not real interested in waisting time with blogs and posting cute pics etc... my customers and my dogs are not the type for baby talk or all that fluffy stuff. These are serious dogs and the guys we deal with are prolly more interested in advanced training techniques/Action pics than anything else, so i will give that some thought. But I do like your idea about helping your besites daughter with her site... I'll be all over that. If I managed to come from nowhere and jump my site to the top of my niche... Maybe there'd be lots of others who would love to know exactly what I have done to achieve it... others who aren't in direct competition of course ! I like it, Thanks for the tip. |

Sorry if you thought i was yelling. didn't mean it come out like that. All ideas are appreciated. Maybe you could also pass me on the link I'm an old biker from way back and wouldn't mind a peek at your forum. I have seen a few forums that are related to my market but they are like you said : Testosterone heaven" with "mines bigger than yours"... and "mines tougher than yours" these guys spend a lot of time bickering and throwing low blows at each other and don't look very profitable for the admin.(maybe a few cents with adsense) I'm not sure I really want that type of content on my site. What i'm trying to do is find more ways to make money from my site at the same time offer my visitors something different and usefull. Thanks |

Long time dog breeders are some of the most knowledgeable dog owners I've met. They know their breed inside and out, and have so much experience to share. I have a working kelpie from a sheep stud near Toowoomba, and every so often the breeder emails with what's happening with other pups she's sold. Where they've gone, if they're doing any sheepdog trials, what characteristics they're showing. I enjoy these emails - it gives me a better understanding of Guinness. Maybe something like that - no baby stuff, but you could email your list info about what your other pups are doing as they grow, how their temperament is developing, are they hunting.... that sort of thing. You could discuss what a pup is up to, and relate it to your breed's temperament. Ask your puppy buyers what they're up to with their dogs as they grow into adulthood, and share it with your list. It's a nice looking site, but I'd love to see more on your breed as an individual - maybe put some more into your FAQ about personality, temperament, etc..there's more to the breed than just the fact they're good with kiddies, and you'd know just about everything about them. Just ravelling here... hope it's of some use to you. |

Thanks for your input Audrey, Your making a lot of sense and I suppose your right. Maybe I should spend some more time sharing what I know with my visitors and subscribers and put the info right there on the site. We do get lots of questions via email and I spend a lot of time answering those questions which end up looking more like small books... rather than reply emails. Great tip and thanks very much. This is the type of advise I'm after... It's easy to go burr blind, staring at your own stuff all the time and leaving out small details that can be overlooked by one can be picked up by others. Thanks again, |

Glad to help :-) Use the emailed questions in your faq - people are telling you what they want to know. If you end up writing "small books" in reply, perhaps put a brief summary of your answer on your site, then offer the little book as a free download for subscriptions to your list. You can then email your list when you have another "small book", or use the big answers as a newsletter - you're providing your subscribers with free quality information. Sounds like you've got loads of potential there!! Can't wait to see your site develop. |

Get a cheap digital movie camera, like a Flip, and make some training videos. You can upload them to Youtube et al for publicity and/or use them as content for an inexpensive private membership. |
