CB affiliates buying through their link

Can clickbank detect someone when he purchase through his affiliate link? Someone purchased 3 of my top 5 products in just 12 hours. I am wondering because these products are in totally different niches and offer high affiliate commission. Is buying through your your own affiliate link illegal?

    No, it isn't.

We had a thread on this, earlier today: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5776497

I don't think you can if your first starting out, because
you have to have a certain amount of money before CB actually pays out.

With that being said, if you already have the required amount for CB to pay out
then you might be able to do so.

    Otherwise, you may be SOL

It might not be illegal but for me I have no courage to do it for some personal reasons...

You're confusing "ethics" and "morality" here, I think? You feel that it's immoral, not unethical. Well, that's a perfectly decent point of view, and you're not alone.

      But clearly it's not "unethical".

Ethics pertain, by definition, to the consensus values and practices of a group. If you think the consensus of that group is wrong - which, of course, anyone's perfectly entitled to think - it's actually the morality you're questioning, not the ethics. "Ethics" relate just to the fact that it is the consensus.

I do it only when I want a copy of the product to assess it for myself with a view to promoting it, and the vendor won't let me have a "review copy".

If I'm looking for something to promote in their niche, and I ask for a review copy and they say "no", then I respect their right to do that. And they'll have to respect my right to buy it through my own link.

If they can't respect that, they shouldn't be selling it on ClickBank in the first place: they should sell it from their own site where they get to make up the rules, rather than accepting ClickBank's rules which allow me to do that. :p

Well this is reasonable and I might try to do it as well.

I don't think it's illegal. I believe this same situation is the reason why Clickbank will require at least 5 unique sales using different credit cards to finally have your Clickbank commission mailed to you or sent into your bank account.

Yes, I would not engage in it.

I sell various clickbank products and reported two users (affiliates) who purchased through their own link and they were banned. Do not do this, or tell other to do this.

    Big no no.

Its not legal, I saw it in clickbanks rules. "An affiliate can not buy trough his own affiliate link" or something like that. Most people use different accounts.

Here is the Clickbank Affiliate - Dos and Don’ts - Rules Page

I don't see where is states anything about it being illegal buying through your own link...

I mean, if it was an illegal ( get your account banned for life issue ) it would be there ... right...??

        I don't see a problem with it.

You may want to test out the sales, and after-sales, process for that product, as well as test and review the product properly before you promote it. Considering one recent thread here, some may even be purchasing to see if their stats are performing correctly...

Either way, celente, this seems a bit heavy-handed (to me):

Is there more to the story, of why you would do this?

The real question is... is it worth the risk?

If there were some "risk", that might be "the real question". But since there isn't, and this is completely legitimate, accepted and permitted, what are you talking about?!
