Total Newbie needs help

Hi all - I found this website by accident and I'm very happy I did! I'm a total newbie to Internet Marketing - I'm a freelance copywriter by day - but I also have a rather successful website that I built from the ground up. I did this without even knowing the term "Internet Marketing." and with no intention to make money. I'm just really passionate about the subject. I don't make a lot of money from it - but I'd like that to change. So I'm happy to find this place.

Is there a book or some website you all would recommend to get me up to speed? This forum is packed full of information but it's very overwhelming.

    I'd still recommend you stick around WF if you want to improve your knowledge about IM -- it can be a little overwhelming if you try jumping through everything at once so just focus on a particular area (e.g. affiliate marketing, ad networks) and just do some reading at your own pace. In the "Make Money Online" section you can find free ebooks for download as well and some of them provide useful tips for people starting out

    This forum is full of GOOD and BAD information. Do your research before purchasing something, WSO forum etc and read the actual reviews throughout the entire thread. Just because one person says or claims one thing doesn't mean you should jump on board. Other than that, I'm a web host and can better answer your questions in that area.

    It is important that you know the basics first. Like others have said, you can use WF as a starting point. You can also search for free ebooks and trainings in internet marketing using Google.

    Hello Inkstone and welcome to the forum. Internet Marketing in general is a great way to earn money. However there are many different ways to do so and if you are just starting out then do some research on the subject. Find what interests you the most about internet marketing and then further investigate in those areas. Take your time though and try not to get too overwhelmed. The warrior forum is a great place to start. Good Luck

    Hey Inkstone. You don't necessarily have to spend anything to learn what you need to know about internet marketing. There are so many resources online that can help you get the sales that you're looking for.

      It sounds like you might have a blog set up?

      If that's the case I'd highly recommend ProBlogger by Darren Rowse. Excellent resource for monetizing your blog, driving more traffic to it, engaging your readers, and so on.

      Check it out. Well worth the visit.

      P.S. I'd also give CopyBlogger a visit. Similar to Problogger with very useful information.

    2) Then make sure you implement what you have read.

    Of these two steps number 2 has made me a chit load of money.

    The fabulous thing about this business is that you are never really up to speed. You constantly have to challenge yourself in order to grow. If you already have a website that gets traffic - monetize it. Test and retest. See what people respond to. Your visitors are there because they like the feel of your site. Offer them products and services that will be valuable to them and you will be successful. Good luck!

    I would suggest using the search feature here and trying different search terms such as monetize website, cpa, affiliate marketing, adwords. Etc. This should give you plenty to read and you should get a better idea of the possibilities of monetizing your site.

    If you need more ideas, try searching in google and don’t be afraid to go a few pages beyond the first page.

    Hi OP,

    Looks like you have a lot of the hard work done by building a successful website so fair play there

    All you need to do is learn a little bit about Marketing and you will be able to successfully monetize this traffic.

    One way of doing this would be to offer your visitors a free gift (give great value) in return for them signing up to your mailing list. You can then begin an email marketing campaign which will allow you to build the relationship with them (this is very important)

    This will allow you to monetize this traffic optimally as you will find it very easy to sell to these prospects as you have already built a good relationship with them through your free content and email marketing.

    It a lots to take in at first but it'll be well worth your while to learn these skills as they will really help you take your already successful site to the next level.
