Suggestions for InfoGraphic Creation?

We've all seen them.

InfoGraphics are very effective at conveying a plethora of data, or unique and complex ideas, in a very graphically appealing and engaging way. Where the written word alone can fall short on its own, I've always been a big fan of infographics.

I've just never created one before myself.

Has anyone ever had one created, or created one yourself? Any suggestions for someone who could be used? (feel free to plug yourself if you have the skills....I'd love to see your work, too, if you have created them....)

    I've often toyed with the idea of making one, but the software leads I found seemed entirely too complicated for the task. (So complicated in fact, I started to suspect a conspiracy theory!)

    It wasn't until later that it dawned on me: a lot of these things look like fancy PowerPoint templates. So I recommend using that program as a simple drawing board.

    Using Microsoft's decorative templates as a base, each slide can be decorated with all the text, arrows, and original pictures desired, and then exported as an image that's later merged with other slide images into the final, larger infographic.
