Default Warning: someone hacked my Windows Live account

This is just fair warning to people who may have signed up for Windows Live accounts. I was in the process of dropping my old online service for storing files (MyDocsOnline) and was about to move everything to my SkyDrive. Imagine my surprise when I logged in and found that there were 165 "friends," messages to someone named "Massa" and no trace of me except for my e-mail address and password (which the hacker stupidly didn't bother to change). I went ahead and changed the PW and also checked off to expire it every 72 days. I'm now going to hold off on uploading anything to skydrive to see if the hacker is able to get back in (which would indicate I've got a keylogger on my system -- though I do run multiple virus scans regularly and nothing is showing up).

Anyway, just fair warning -- all those people who have been mentioning how they had domain names stolen, that's not the only thing that can be attacked. If you keep sensitive materials in the cloud, you need to keep on changing passwords and being super careful about what you do with it.

Personally, I've souped up my PWs to make them much harder to hack (mix of letters and numbers along with capital letters mixed in).

Eric

Try pressing Ctrl-shift-Alt-H If a box pops up you DEFINITELY have a keylogger installed

I had mine hacked ages ago and they locked me out of my account and it took me months to get my account back. I had to provide a whole heap of proof. I now use much harder passwords and make sure I change them every 72 days. I also use KeyScrambler and recommend everyone else does as well:

QFX Software - Anti-Keylogging Software and More

Just tried. Nothing happened. Not that this proves anything. Just that if there is one, it's a sneaky version.

Thanks for the suggestion. Definitely on my to buy list. And also something I'll be blogging about in my blogger's blog shortly.
