Can You Create A Lucrative Businesss Doing Ecovers & Mini-Sites?

I've been tossing around the idea of doing something on the side for a while.

I find full-blown web design too tedious to do over and over again, but I like doing ecovers from scratch - and perhaps the occassional simple mini-site design (header/footer/background image). I'm just not sure if there is enough demand to make it worthwhile; and if there is demand, how competetive it is.

You can see some samples of my covers (and a mini-site) in my sig.

If you think this is do-able, what cover size(s) should I offer in my packages and in what format? I've gotten into the habit of saving my projects in phases and in jpg. But, is the preferred format .psd?

What would you pay for the ecover design on my site? And what about the mini-site design?

I'd like to know your opinions.

Hi Steve,

There does seem to be a lot of design houses offering these services around here, so they must be making money at it.

The prices for such things vary wildly from place to place, as does the service, but as far as formats I'm not sure. I've personally find that some guys give you the stuff in every format, whilst others won't part with the PSDs for love or money...

Check out the sites of the warriors here that are designers...that will give you an idea of prices and services offered.

Also, there are design WSOs pretty often...maybe that's one way you can get started by taking on a handful of clients and seeing how it pans out?
