Im looking to buy business email lists for my local area. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction for a reputable vendor? Looking for a freshness and not afraid to pay for quality.

Thanks

    Why?

    From my point of view:

If I would get an email from some random guy I never heard about selling me stuff I would report it as spam and add the email address to filters.

Create your own quality mailing list.

Just my 2 cents. Of course, people will dissagree.
I agree. I'd also not trust the name again. I'll join up to your list if I'm interested - just buying someones email address seems so scammy.

Check your local chamber of commerce, sometimes they have all of their members email addresses right on their website. Other times they have a pamphlet book with all the emails & contact info. You get this when you join but may be able to get it from a member if you know any.

I have a pamphlet book with all the members from my local area. I might look through it someday and email one or two members personally, with some offer or introduction, but emailing the whole list would kill your credibility & integrity in local business owners' eyes.

I agree with the previous posts, but will take it a bit further. The fact of the matter is, unless you have a specific technique to get a good open rate and to get in front of the decision maker, emailing blindly like this is ineffective.

That said, if you do have a good technique or are working on scale, it is possible to see results.

As mentioned, I would do a search for the business owners names (or GM's names) and then try to find listings of their emails in the local COC or on Manta or other business listings.

Alternatively, a great way to get in front of business owners and decision makers is with social media. Either to their business page OR directly to their personal page. With this said however, remember that social media works best because of developing a relationship not selling a product. Grab their attention or strike up a dialog and then slide in the soft sell when it's time...

All of that said, I know these guys have a ton of lists: infofree dot com

Yes chamber of commerce is a good start.

We are getting some very good sales offline with our SEO services with referrals, but you have to make sure you look after your current clients and they will spread word of mouth for you. This is a great way to go viral without spending any money.
