I hope i am not too late on this one. I discovered twitter getter (free) via being on someone's list, and it seems an amazing tool. I just sent an email to my hotmail list, and my twitter following has increased significantly..Not 5-figures, but reasonable enough, and on complete AUTOPILOT. I can't post the link here..but..nvm..sigh

No it isn't. Breaking the rules is breaking the
rules and you'll be seen as a forum spammer.

    How is that different?

It doesn't matter if you're requesting an
email or a PM, you're still advertising on
    the forum.

        It's not about what I WANTED, it's
        about showing some respect for
        other warriors.

    Reality check:

It's NOT your thread it's part of a
    discussion forum.

This forum has rules, designed for
the good of all. You broke the rules

    Members are moderators and we
all have a responsibility to keep the
forum on track. That includes you.

I'll continue to "Poke my nose" into
threads that interest me and I'll
    continue to question and challenge
people who choose to ignore the rules
    for their own selfish reasons.

The original version of your OP was enough for it to have been deleted should enough people 'poked their nose' in and reported it.

John chose to educate you while he was at it. That's his prerogative as a good member moderator, and as a particularly experienced member of this forum it would be wise just to take heed, act appropriately and move on.

By all means argue your point, but on this occasion you're not right - that's not an opinion, it's just the rules.

Move on and forget about it.

Hey, just follow the rules! It doesn't pay to get banned from the Warrior Forum. Take it from someone who has had his hand slapped once. Don't do it girlfriend. this forum is for information sharing and gathering, but you have to follow the rules! Forum moderators are just doing their job, so the forum will be worth logging into. If there were no moderators, this forum would pretty much suck.

Ok, i agree with you guys..I won't repeat that mistake again. But bear in mind, i do NOT like being called a forum spammer, when i am not. Nobody does. Check my previous threads if in doubt..Nobody likes having their reputation tarnished..Especially if they do NOT intend anyone no harm...

John didn't call you a forum spammer. He wrote that you'd be seen as a forum spammer. And you would. He was just giving you a friendly heads-up so you could fix it before you got labeled as a spammer.

        That's all.

You fixed it. Rather than take offense, I'd simply be grateful that John let you know that you were breaking the rules.

Please, please, please, do not reply to this thread on the defensive once more. You are the one who is damaging your own reputation. If you'd just stepped back after John's first post and held your hands up and said, "Oops! Me bad" then it'd blown over without anyone thinking any different of you.

As it is, lots of folk have now been alerted and you can guarantee that your profile, signature and posts have been crawled over by people LOOKING for negative stuff - that's just human nature.

Come back with an unequivocal apology or stay away.

      Agree totally...
Why argue when things are clear.

"To say Sorry and step back" is an act of courage that most people find difficult to do because it hurts the ego... unless you get better at it... through training... and this is a good opportunity to exercise.

      My 2 cents,

Wow. First thread I read on here in the morning with my cup of coffee, and I see all this arguments on here.

Misako, if I were you, I'd just drop it and move on and stop going on the defensive. You keep digging yourself a bigger hole each time you go on the defensive, and that also can ruin your reputation.

Japanese culture doesn't make allowances for being wrong. There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Japanese way.

I know I was ceo of a japanese writing instrument company for ten years. There doesn't seem to be room for any accountability in the culture.

That's not being critical, that's just my perception as a gaijin!

People wonder why we get "crazy" about stuff like this...

There's another thread like this, in which the fellow who started it is plugging his link for this service. It's a referral system, with a pitch that looks just like a pyramid scheme's math.

How many threads do we need telling us about this?

        Wow,

        Talk about off topic. LOL

I wonder why reprimands aren't made by PM instead of on the post itself?

If the person didn't correct the mistake then an open forum comment may be warranted.

Just expressing my opinion of what I see on other forums.

What is there ten posts slapping the same hand or more?

I've got some anti-inflammatory lotion I sell on one of my sites if you need it!

        Best wishes,

P.S. I am trying out tweeter getter, it's building my list pretty good already. Twitter is really buzzing about it, we shall see what happens.

So that other people have the chance to learn the reasoning at the same time.

So that trolls (not meaning you, in this case) can't lie about what was said to them by PM regarding the rules.

So that the person being educated can't claim later that they didn't know.

So that it becomes somewhat painful to screw with the rules casually.

      All valid reasons, I think.
