I beg to differ.

SEO is important if you're site relies around organic traffic, but for many forms on online marketing & IM businesses, SEO plays a very small part in the overall traffic distribution.

Success in many IM programs such as clickbank revolve around a combination of quality products that work, high EPC's, and a strong affiliate network & relationship.

With pure SEO, you'll have traffic that may or may not monetize well. With any one of the ingredients mentioned above, you can drive a good surge of profit, but having all three combined is the key to making a sustainable online empire.

I agree that SEO is very important but it's not the most important. After all if you get all of the traffic in the world you still may not make a penny if you're not doing anything with that that traffic and not providing any value. I would say that providing quality and giving the traffic what they want is equally as important.

Some good points on here guys. I agree, you need to have great content, a good niche, and a good sales strategy to become successful. As with any industry, it's difficult to become established, but if you can accomplish it there is a ton of room for money making potential.

I'm going to go even broader and say that knowing your niche is the most important element of making money online. When you know your niche, you know what problems it is looking to solve, find quality products that provide them with a solution to said problem, and able to write copy that connects with your audience in such a way that it converts into sales.

The most important elements required for success are following points,

- Power to take decision.
- Don't expect you'll become rich over night. Be realistic.
- Make a systematic plan (Method of making money doesn't matter, what matters is plan to execute whatever method you have selected. "An Idiot With Plan Can Succeed And A Genius Without Plan Can Fail")
- Keep detailed log of your work
- All fail several times before success (except few very smart or lucky guys). Success isn't easy piece of pie, Unless you are ready to accept failures, you have no chances to succeed.
- Even most polished blueprint to make money is failure without implementing it and mastering it by experience. Most powerful blueprints also meet failures just because of lack of experience. Take to time learn by implementing.
- Believe you can make money online, don't give up

SEO and organic traffic is only worth its salt if your optimized for buying keywords.

You can get literally tons of organic traffic and never make a dime if you're not ranking for buying keywords.

So just to say "SEO and traffic" can very misleading...if the reader doesn't use discernment.

building a list

sales funnel

these 2 components form your entire business. traffic, seo, link building, conversions, affiliates, jv`s etc are all important but they are not the base of your business

you need to have a solid core to work from and then expand from there

once you have a good sales funnel in place and a solid foundation then you can start working and focusing on other areas

you may have traffic, good conversions but if you have no where to send them or an effective sales funnel to send them through then its going to be an uphill battle

Im getting traffic i've done my seo. I have good content my readers tell me they enjoy. Traffic and good content equals no sales or clicks for me anyways. I havent made a single dollar off my site. Seeing the stormy outlook for certain sectors of Internet Marketing and being ready for significant change. The FTC is on the warpath for MMO marketers and many others who are known for blatant fraud and lies. Google is fed up with hit and run, drive by spamming tactics for back linking and page positioning.

SEO as we all know it is going to change a lot over the coming months. Payment processors are going to become much more strict in who they'll allow to use them. There's going to be a serious wake up call soon for all in IM.

I agree that focusing a site on something you like is important, but it needs to be profitable too. you have to find a good mix of both, as in a subject that you know a lot about and also can lead to sales.

  I agree with Wide. As much as you can be motivated by reading all kinds of things online, trying to tell you how to make $20,000 a month on auto-pilot, it's just not reality.
  
  Getting a website to rank and produce money takes a considerable amount of time and energy. Adding quality content and building backlinks doesn't happen over night. Adding even 5 backlinks per day will help immensely.

  I remember reading about 4 years ago that the most important thing is to go after your passion and the money will follow. That has been true! It is far easier to "work" at something when you enjoy doing it, rather than chasing the money.

I believe it's the ability to keep learning and adapting. Because the IM scene changes all the time and the ability to stay consistent and keep learning is really the key in my opinion. One strategy you used yesterday could be made redundant tomorrow. It's to always be on top of your game and keep capitalizing on opportunities.

I feel that SEO comes first and then comes traffic. With SEO you can have a site which can help you to make sites which people demand but if you don't have traffic then there is no use of doing SEO. So SEO and traffic are the most important things for a website to be successful.

It seems like a pretty general consensus that generating traffic is the most important element to making money. However, even if you have a ton of traffic, unless you can convert that traffic into sales then it is worthless.

Most of the things mentioned in this thread focus on the technology side of things. But in my book the most important aspect of making money online is persistence. I see a lot of people who understand the basics but jump from one project to another before they ever get the prior one off the ground.

Making money online takes time - sure you can make your first couple of bucks within days - you need to persistently tweak and continue building to truly make a decent living online.

Therefore - SEO, List building, etc - all are good, but true success comes from persistence.

Like in any other endeavors, mindset to me plays a very crucial role! In trying to make money online, you'll face failures for sure. You can make a few bucks here & there but the bottomline is... before you make a steady income, you'll always encounter setbacks & if your mindset is not in its rightful place, you might lose heart & eventually quit.

I've seen this happen too many often...jumping from one shiny system into another. Remember, with the right mindset, no hurdle or setback is too daunting!

First things first, you have to have something to offer people whether its a product, knowledge, or service. How else will you make money without offering anything to someone in exchange for their money? Then make sure whatever you are offering is quality, valuable and needed by a specific market. Then work on getting your targeted market to come and see what you have to offer.

I think SEO is not the best way to get traffic I know dozens of super wealthy marketers who have no SEO traffic. The first few thousand on my list where not SEO, however that being said I'm all for it, just don't let lack of SEO stop you.

The most important way to make money is the search engine optimization because by creating high quality articles thereby increasing the data traffic of that site so that it can gain from it. SEO is also considered as the main source of online money making because many cyber giants are starving for more articles every day.
