Over $6,000,000 off a product launch?

Recently Dan Kennedy launched a new product, and I estimated that if only 3% of the people that saw it bought it then he's made well over $6,000,000 off this launch alone! (obviously affiliates will take a big part of that but he's still made a lot.)

This got me thinking of the real power that product launches have. It's something I've known since starting out, but I've never tried to implement on a mass scale.

I was wondering if any of you guys have? And also what you think are some keys to a successful product launch?

Observing somebody bring in $6 million on a product launch and saying you can now see the great power product launches have is like observing that Lebron James makes $20 million playing basketball so you now can see the great power playing basketball has.

    It means nothing.

The power is not in "product launches," the power is in what makes that product launch successful. You can have a product launch and lose money, or make $100 and that's it.

The power is in strong affiliates who have tons of buying subscribers. The power is in great sales copy. The power is in a great sales funnel. The power is in leveraging the far reach of other people.

Yes creating your own products is great, but to make any money at it, there's so much more to it than that.

Your right but that's why I asked "what do you think are the keys to a successful product launch?". Obviously no random person is going to make 6 million off a product launch... I know that. And my eyes wernt opened as I said I laready knew the power of a product launch, I've just rarely seen it implemented so well.

I'd be surprised if someone of Dan Kennedy's experience and stature wouldn't be able to pull off a multi-million dollar launch. He must have a list the size of the population of France by now. He's a major marquee name in business and marketing. And I doubt he's giving affiliates 100% commissions. And that's because he doesn't have to.

Yea, it only took him a couple decades to build up a following that allows him to pull off a launch like that too.

Sounds like you read an estimate of possible traffic numbers - then estimated a percentage ROI and thus projected profit. A/K/A - a guess.

Kind of, I took the amount of comments he has which where over 5,000 and then used some of my own stats and those of others to figure that about 1-5% of people who view your page actually comment, and then I took 3% conversion rate of that number.

It was a very loose estimate but that wasn't the point. Regardless of how much he actually made I don't think anyone would argue it was a successful launch. And I wanted to know what fundementally made it so successful.

It may have taken him Decades to build the kind of following he has, but Dan Kennedy seems to be an extremely consistent person, so i don't think it would be a stretch to assume he's been using the same key techniques and fundamental approach to launch all of his products. And that's what really interested me.

I can imagine the price point of his product so I am assuming conversions were probably nowhere near 3%. Lists built during launches like that are also going to have a high percentage of freebie seekers. I am sure he did make some good coin though but it's totally irrelevant to anyone else.
