You cannot go wrong with Hostgator's Baby plan - unlimited domains and bandwidth for less then 10 bucks.

HostGator is a great company. You'll be happy with them. If you pay by the month, it's more expensive than other places.

Even though this forum swears by HostGator, do your research, look into some other hosts as well. They, along with other web hosts have flaws as well.

And just remember that "unlimited" doesn't technically mean unlimited.

i too agree

hostgator are awesome and you cant go wrong with them

ive been with them for around 3 years and theres been dozens of times when i need
to talk to a rep so i go on the online chat

its available 24 hrs a day which is great to have access to it

im only with the baby plan but its fine for what i need

Hostgator is the way to go if you're just starting out.
I've been with HostMonster, however, for the last 3yrs and just purchased another 3yrs with them. But that's just because I already have everything setup (multiple sites, scripts, etc.). Nowadays, pretty much all hosts use CPanel and you can admin everything through there. Very intuitive and versatile interface.

Even though I know it goes against conventional wisdom here, I'll put in my two cents for my host (by that I mean the one I use, not the one I own -- I'm merely a satisfied customer): DreamHost. They also have unlimited plans and so far, I've had no trouble with them at all.

I'd shy away from hostgator but thats just me. There are better, cheaper alternatives for shared hosting out there. As far as a design if you want something custom, feel free to hit me up. Although I'm not the cheapest I certainly know what I'm doing.

Only if you want slow & overloaded servers. Then I'd recommend Bluehost. They're just another EIG brand.

Look for a host that offers daily backups, which there aren't many that offer this on shared hosting. Most offer weekly and charge a fee should you need something restored.

There isn't one which is definitively and objectively "best", and the answer can vary a little according to your exact requirements.

However, for most people, most of the time, Hostgator is "one of the best".

Well, take a look at their site, and you'll see that the "hatchling plan" starts at $3.96 per month, and the "baby plan" starts at $6.36 per month. If you pay monthly, those prices are a little higher. The "hatchling plan" is for one domain only. The "baby plan" allows you to add many others.

Approximately zero (apart from renewing the domain-name and hosting, when needed, of course). If you do it yourself (no great skill-set required!) and don't outsource stuff. Self-hosted Wordpress blogs/content management system are free, and available as a one-click installation through Hostgator's "C-panel". You have to know how to use Wordpress, though.
