Hello everyone.

I'm sure you all have heard this before, but I am new at this (this meaning making ANY money on the internet). I really have no idea how to go about making money. I have been trying to research it, but have not had any luck. I'm not looking to become some overnight millionaire, I just need to make some money. I am an unemployed video production artist living in Pittsburgh. I am having a heck of a time finding any job, let alone in my field. THis is why I am looking to the internet. A couple of years ago I bought THE RICH JERK's ebook, and even though he spells everything out pretty clearly, I dont think affiliate marketing is for me. I am tired of finding all of these sites that say that "for such and such an amount, I will become rich"... My wife and I are about to lose everything if I dont figure something out. Please, if you can, give me some advice.

Also, I really dont have money to invest.

Thanks!
Matt

I would think, as a video production artist, that there are a ton of opportunities for you.

    • Offer to produce videos for other marketers.
    • Make PLR or MRR videos for products.
    • Write an ebook pn producing videos.
    • Create a Video production ecourse.
    • Write an ebook on how to become a video production artist.
I hope this gives you some ideas.

No matter what you choose to do, and I believe that there are plenty of opportunities in yur field, especially here on the internet, you are going to need to generate traffic to your product. Please do yourself a favor and join up the Traffic Generation private forum run by Kevin Riley, it is very inexpensive and will be the best investment that you have ever made - I suspect it will also give you quite a lot of opportunity to use your own expertise. The course starts Monday and you have to register before that. Latecomers are not accepted.

I know what you are going through and it is very tough. If I can help in any way let me know.

You do video production??!! Heck, we could all use you!

You don't even have to start marketing products right away. First, go to the classified ads section here on WarriorForum and post your service.

Then, you can create accounts at Elance(dot)com, and you might even find some jobs at Rentacoder(dot)com

And, if you hang out in this forum enough you'll learn tons about Internet and Affiliate Marketing.

But, yea...what James said above...you can also create some great info products on the topic of video production.

Yeah, no kidding. Some of my IM friends have been looking for someone to do this sort of work for them.

        Hello!

To everyone helping me. Thank you so much. I am in the earliest stages of starting a video production service with one of my closest friends, it is calles One Sun Media. As of now, we have two videos posted on youtube. One is a commercial for Doritos that we entered to be shown during the superbowl (unfortunately, it wasn't chosen) the other is a music video we did for a local Pittsburgh band with zero budget. Both have been received well, but we are still looking for work. I cannot add the links, but if you IM me, I will send them to you. I can offer services to everyone on Warrior Forum too. I hope I am not breaking any rules here.

        Thanks!

I have to agree with a lot of what's being said up above here. Definitely leverage your skill-set and sell your services to the IM market space. There's a lot of need out there.

Outside of that, if you're looking to participate in online marketing, the best piece of advice I can give you is to generate a plan to get started, focus solely on that plan, and take action until it's done. Along the way you'll (most likely) hit some 'speed bumps' and then (and only then) you can go "into the wild" to find the solution.

I'd recommend (as above) leveraging your expertise in video to create some quick "how to" products that you can sell that then point to your (personal professional) services.

But ultimately, the key is to clear the clutter and focus on creating that roadmap.

    Hope that helps!

    - Glen.

    HI Matt,
My suggestion (adding to the above ideas) is for you to quickly come up with your ownt product using your video skills. I am sure you can make videos for WF members. Make a contribution. Ask people what they need with video and put your package together.

    What I see you needing:
    Hosting - $7 bucks
    Domain - $11
    YouTube account --free.
When ready, a WSO -- $20, I think. I've been away for 3 months. No idea if prices changed.
From that point offer custom products and build your clients.
I think you have the basic production equipment.

I would also knock on some doors in your area and see if businesses want IM help and specially with the use of video. Those are great clients.

    Success,
    Sam

This is kind of long but it's the standard advice I give to anybody who a) wants to start making money online and b) seems to have decent writing skills. It won't make you a millionaire overnight but if you follow through on it, it WILL get you some decent start-up cash, and help you make some connections.

It's what I did when I started out and now I'm moving on to selling PLR and, finally, doing some real affiliate marketing! Like I said, it won't make you rich--but it'll help you with some bills if you follow through on it.

Here is a mini-business plan that might suit you.

First, write 3-5 samples. I would say make at least one of them a how-to, and one of them a tips or benefits article. Make one of them about a problem that people face (more on that below), and make sure and hit an emotional button with it. (Do this with every one you write, if you can.)

Unless you want to specialize (not a bad idea, but not always the best idea for beginners), cover at least three niches. Pets (be specific) and bad credit /credit repair/ bad credit loans/ anything financial, esp. concerning people in desperate straits, are two good ones.

Anything health-related is good, too. Exercise-related, weight loss, acne, natural medicine, erectile dysfunction, etc.

Also dating/seduction isn't a bad one either. Lots of people doing stuff with these markets and their niches.

Make sure each one is focused around a keyword or key phrase in the niche. Put the keyword in your title, in the first paragraph, a couple of times in the body and in your closer.

Probably you already know about that but I'm mentioning it just to be safe. A safe keyword % is under 3% and many marketers don't worry much about it anymore. If they do then they will tell you. You can check your percentage at textalyser dot net. Always a good idea just to make sure you haven't accidentally overused it. Don't want to be guilty of keyword spam!

If you don't have the money for a WSO then you possibly don't have enough for a domain name and hosting. But I think .info domains are 2 or 3 bucks at NameCheap.com. Hostgator can host you for ten bucks a month if you pay monthly. Seriously consider this, it will help. However I'll talk about free stuff in just a minute.

If you get hosting and a domain name, I'd recommend the WordPress install on Fantastico. With wordpress you can choose to create blog posts or web pages and it's the easiest way I've ever built a site. In fact it's the only way I've ever built a site that was worth looking at.

If you absolutely can't afford a domain name and hosting right now, you can use a free service like WordPress.com or Clearblogs.com. Make pages or posts with your samples.

Make an "about" page or post that has your email. It will help people feel safer with you if you can list a phone number and street address, or at least some sort of mailing address. You are an unknown quantity at this point and this can help people feel more sure about you.

Okay, now you want a page where you introduce yourself. It should say that you are available for content writing. List your price. I started out at $.02/word. Some people won't like to pay that but some people think it's a deal. If your samples are decent then you can get it. If you are professional and always make your deadlines, and provide good content, you can charge more in the near future.

You can also offer packages: 5-article, 10-article, etc. Give a bit of a discount for bulk, if you want.

Since you are as yet unknown, here is a suggestion: offer to write ONE free article per potential client. It doesn't have to be long, 300-350 words is fine. Say that you will do it on whatever keyword or subject they want, although you might want to list exceptions i.e. heavily technical stuff if you're not up on tech, adult stuff if you'd rather not do that, etc.

Now it's time for the forum. Create a signature line that links back to your website. Your text can be something like "Need good content at a reasonable price? Click here and get a FREE test-drive!"

Or any such phrase that lets people know you are available, and giving out free samples.

If for some reason you don't have paypal, get it.

I started out asking for half payment up-front from my clients. This was as a new and unknown quantity. I like to think they gave it because I came across as at least somewhat of a professional.

It's not unusual to ask for this and personally I wouldn't work for a client who wasn't willing to pay half up-front. By the same token, it might smell fishy if you ask for everything up-front as well (though I've seen writers do this when they post a WSO).

Set a realistic turnaround time for yourself. If you're taking 2 hours per article then take that into account when you tell clients your turnaround time.

And if you're taking two hours...get faster! I have found that outlining helps quite a bit with this. Also, when you get $47, google the term "7 minute article". It's worth it.

Now, make posts here on the forum. Make sure they are intelligent replies about subjects you know. You don't have to know much about internet marketing per se--all kinds of niche topics here.

If you don't feel like you have much to say, then you want to start a WSO just as soon as you get $20. In fact you might want to do that anyway. This is a great investment for your business.

Offer a good rate. Say, you'll do ten 400-word articles for 40 or 50 bucks. Make sure you list your regular rate, so that they can compare with your WSO rate (and know what to expect to pay in the future).

Set a limit on how many clients you'll take. To be safe, I would announce a turnaround time of one week, for everybody. Or one week for your first 5 clients and two weeks for the next 5. Whatever suits your writing pace and lifestyle.

Make sure you include a link to your site. You can even include a link for each individual sample if you want.

DON'T TAKE ON MORE THAN YOU CAN REASONABLY HANDLE. Your reputation is everything, so you want to make sure you can deliver. ALWAYS DELIVER ON TIME!

This isn't the only way to do things but it sure ain't the worst. Hope it helps.

      mscherrah,

The worst thing you can do right now is
try to learn how to make money on the
      Internet.

Learn that in your spare time.

You have skills that you can sell.
Somebody above said to go to the freelance sites,
      good advice.

Also find all of the webmasters in your area
and start making videos of their customers
businesses for them to put on their
      customers sites.

They charge the customer XXX and you get a split.

Or find the customers in your area that have
websites and ask them if they would like a video for their
      site for X.

Shoot it and send it to their webmaster or
give it to the customer and let him
      give it to his webmaster.

Make sure the owner of the biz
is in the video they love that.

      Hummm...Video Producing...wow!

Your sitting on your own gold mine.

Walk down in your own neighborhood into small mom and pop businesses and tell them that for 50 bucks (seriously ask more) and tell them you will video tape a 30 to 45 second info commercial for them and upload it to the more popular video sites.

And...just for your confidence level...the warrior forum is here watching you succeed...and are more than willing to help you with how to upload those video to all the popular video sites.

      How's that for pressure....lol

Definitely if you need money fast, don't go too crazy trying smething new, (as someone else here said, do that in your spare time)
        Sell your video production skills.
Make a list of potential customers on the net and contact them.
This is the fastest way for you to make money.
Start from where you are and move toward where you want to go but the important thing is to start!

    Hi Matt:

Welcome! Sorry about the job situation. I hope you get something advantageous quickly. As people have pointed out it is great to get a look around the entire forum because you may be bale to find things you don't like in regard to business opportunities and some that seem worth an investigation.

One thing to please keep in mind is when somebody has a product and tells you that it makes them 100 trillion dollars a minute the real dollar amount should be in your eyes what are they making on the actual concept of the idea and what is their income from people buying it.

If Jane and John Doe make 100,000 a year through different forms of internet marketing not counting any sales of their products it should look a lot more impressive to you than if Jack and Jane Smith make 200,000 every twelve months but 191,000 is based on selling their E-Book.

You want results to help you build a business.

Don't rush and luck for products that come with a guarantee. Piece of mind goes a long way.

    Enjoy the day.

I am new as well and have had a great deal of trouble getting step by step to take my hand thorough the maze and make the fog go away. I found a great mentor who I feel cares and worth the effort. It's up to you this is NOT an affiliate link. If you go to maverickmoneymakers.com you can get a lot of information without cost. I have been able to make 356.00 a day for a week now. I never have a made a dime on the internet. It's up to you, but this site worked for me.
