Finding customers online

Hey everyone, I was wondering how some of you find customers online? I am a photo editor and photo manipulation guy and want new clients. I want to know some ways to find new clients online, since I work from home. Thanks

Are there any simple things you can do that you could turn into a Fiverr gig?

You could try local ads on a free classifieds site like Craigslist, Ebay Classifieds or Kijiji.

You have to do your research, though, and put yourself out there in a unique way. I would imagine there are many people doing what you do.

If you have a website you can post several samples of photo editing in your profile. If you are just starting out you can search for non-profit websites that could use your services and offer to fix their logo/banner for free so you can add them to your portfolio.

Realistically people go about doing this the wrong way.

What you want to do is find a community with lots of traffic in your niche.

    Or build this yourself.

If you can do any of these 2 things you will not only successful but the the go to guy or website for your particular niche.

So ask yourself these questions and you will be home and hosed.

There are a few ways to go about client acquisition online:

    1. Craigslist, Warriors-for-hire and/or other classified listing - post your services
    2. SEO - get found organically
    3. Adwords or the like - get found by way of a paid advertising campaign
    4. Post to topically related forums - put link to your website in your signature and on your profile page
    5. Join professional networking sites - see linkedin
    6. Join freelance sites - see Odesk, Elance etc.

As a blogger, I love businesses that reach out for a reciprocal relationship. For example, you could offer to touch up a header (as someone else mentioned) or photo for free in exchange for a review, tweet, link, etc. Many of the bloggers I know would jump at the chance since we typically don't do any kind of graphic work. I would definitely be willing to promote someone who does good work, especially if I got something from it that would benefit my blog.
