Hi,

I have a question, I purchased my website a biz domain that came with my hosting package, and now everybody is telling me to purchase the .co.uk
I have just purchased this tonight.

I set up the .biz Creativesnaps Photography - wedding photography swindon wiltshire and now I have forwarded the .co.uk to point at that is this the best way forward ?

Or should I run two sites independently ?

If anybody can explain the pro and cons

Thanks for all your help

You don't want to run two. You're doing the right thing, point the one you're not focusing on to the one you're mainly using.

It's good you got the co.uk site, because it shows you're local in the UK. The .biz site could be just about anywhere. As your business is locally focussed, it's good to have a domain that shows that.

No, you shouldn't have any issues at all from that, but I am more concerned as to why you are pointing to a .biz domain when it looks cheap when .uk is much stronger in the consciousness of the British people and much more trusted generally?

If I were you, if you weren't targeting anyone out of the UK I would dump the .biz and focus on the .uk as that is one of the strongest extensions in the world, and also one of the most stable.

Regardless of whether you got it for "free" I think it will do your credibility far more harm than good if you were to keep it and use it.

Simple test to prove what I say is correct, print out 100-200 sheets of paper and give them to random people in the street, with creativesnaps.biz and creativesnaps.co.uk on it and without giving any clue ask which they might visit and which they might trust and ask them to circle their choice. I can virtually guarantee that when you review the evidence 95%+ will have chosen the latter

local sites rank higher.. as far as i tried myself...

.co.uk sites rank higher in google.co.uk

so its wise to host your content in .co.uk and point .biz and other domains to it.

    just flip the other way...
