How to promote a video to generate leads

I have a high quality promo video that I am going to be promoting through an adwords campaign. I am setting up a landing page featuring the video at the very top and then a form underneath that where the viewer can input their contact information and get a free trial of our product.

The end result is to generate interest and get more qualified leads through this form.

I am brand new to adwords, very much a rookie. I know that keyword target selection is the most important factor and I am already underway with that. However, after that I'm going to be teaching myself as I go. I really hope that I can get some strong help from you experienced IMers.

What can I do to make this promotion as successful as possible?

Hey, I use videos quite a bit but have no experience with adwords so I can't help you there....

But what I do is I make the video and post to Youtube first and foremost. Optimize the hell outta it and target only one keyword per video. Then I get some nice fella over at fiverr to do some extra backlinking etc. and the video will gradually begin to rank for that keyword in Googel/Youtube.

If your video gets a lot of views you can expect a % to click through to your site and then sign up to your list. Thats a very general overview but it works well for me. Put up a new video last week for a fairly competitive keyword (just testing a few things) and I got into the 4th top rank in 3 days and its generating me a handful of leads per day as we speak.

    Hope that helps.

Also buying 10k++ Youtube views can help your video rank well in Youtube search result.

    Thank you Marriner,

This video will actually be located on the squeeze page itself. Is there a way to maximize the watch rate and conversion rate of the video?

Again, I am pretty new to this and I really appreciate any help that you can give to me.

    Thanks!

Squeeze pages without videos actually convert better. Pre-headline and headline and email capture form give the person a quick 20-30 second straight to the point message. Look at most of the experts that convert the highest with squeeze pages and you will see no video. If you MUST have the video then make sure the opt in form is above the fold and that the video has a strong call to action and big benefit of going to the next page.

You can use Youtube and other video sharing websites such as Vimeo , dailymotion etc effectively to market your video. And once your video gets viral it will generate the much traffic along with sales.

If you go the video route it has to grab their attention. It can't be a boring, mind numbing video.

I don't know if you saw the Dollar Shave Club promo video that went viral last week, but it is an example of an EXCELLENT marketing video:
It combines humor with value. Needless to say, the guy is now most likely rolling in the proverbial dough.

(edit: Sorry, no idea why it double embedded).

That video is great and marketing at its best. I also has that sort of dodgy feel to it, and a great way to make marketing JUST work!

I am sure that website not only generates leads, but make truckloads of money.

One of my coworkers signed up for the service a few days ago. They only allow you to sign up for an email list right now, they won't allow you to actually purchase until sometime in May.

So any advice on the landing page vs. squeeze page concept? Is there a real difference?

    A few things:

    1. You can use Google Adwords with squeeze pages - you may run into some bumps with google about it but you can do it. From time to time they suspend a page but I currently have 100 squeeze pages getting traffic from google ppc.

    2. Video works. I test many squeeze pages. I get the best results (I'm talking sales!)with video on the page.

I would start with Youtube. Then I would write articles and promote the video in the signature portion of your article. I'm not big on advertising, but if you can get your video squeeze page to outpull your "static" squeeze page... then i would use Microsoft Adcenter to get more leads also.

    Thanks for the input.

Why can't you promote a squeeze pages through Adwords? If it has relevant information to the search keywords I don't see why that would be a problem. What would the difference be between a squeeze and landing page in that situation?

@Sitestomp, yes I did see that video and it is brilliant marketing. Unfortunately our video is not quite that high quality.
