What do you think of my BUSINESS IDEA?

Hello Warriors, what do you all think of my business idea?

I want to hire a top personal trainer who has good credentials and case studies, I want them to partner with me on create a weight loss training video + ebook series...similar to "P90x" (which is advertised all day long on TV).

I have a budget of $40k to start the product and I'm looking to be aggressive and rake in tons of sales via TV ads, radio, SEO, PPC, Clickbank, etc.

Thoughts?

Go for it! The weighloss and health niche is ever green - if you're product is good, and you get it in front of tons of people, you're bound to make bank!

40K is nothing if you want to advertise on TV, you will burn through it faster than you can say "fast"

remember that p90x was not an instant success, it had another name before and was basically the same, when they did some tweaks to the marketing then only did it take off and generate tons of $$$

remember that creating the product is just 20% of the work...the rest is marketing and traffic

      good luck to you...

It is a very competitive market. I don't know as your 40k will go very far. You need to sit down and figure outa realistic budget. You will need to produce the training videos and the ebooks which will include logos and other graphics. You will then have to make sure you have a well designed website that can handle the traffic. Then, of course, you will have the cost of production of your media for advertising.

One more thing, I'd definitely start online first. For your first few waves of a beta launch, I'd partner with other big list owners in that niche, and offer them a very nice affiliate commission in exchange for sending out the product to their list. Do this a few times, possibly in waves, and build up your own list of buyers and success stories, and then move out from there and go the ad network and clickbank route. You'll get much better bang for your buck there, starting out, rather than hitting it hard with TV campaigns in the beginning.

Also, I'd make sure you are tapping into the social proof value that Facebook can bring. If it were me, (check facebook's policies, they might be a bit strick with the health niche now that I think of it) I would create my entire sales pages straight on Facebook, and incorporate the power that it can bring to campaigns to make a campaign like that go viral. You'll definitely want to have a Facebook page, at least in addition to a normal sales page, when you're running your Facebook PPC campaigns.

Just my two cents worth. Definitely a solid idea though, keep us posted on how things progress!

Great business idea. Maybe start with PPC because its the equivalent of going to the target audience searching for the exact words that interested consumers put in for your sub niche. If you cannot sell with targeted keywords then it might be difficult to sell on Tv.

Almost forgot... make sure you pay a good copywriter to help your product's sales copy convert.
Include a deep backend funnel with multiple upsells, otos, and recurring membership.

This sounds a little generic to be honest. Think about all the weight loss routines out there: they have a hook.

P90X: get ripped in 90 days.
Insanity: an intense workout unlike any other.
Booty Blast: get a great butt.

You can't just enter the weight loss market and tell people they will lose weight. You have to make it special, a hook. For example, a routine that office workers can use during work to lose weight. Or how vegans can gain muscle.

Also, 40K is nothing for TV. I know someone already mentioned it, but it should be noted again. This would be best online and in test gyms so it can gain some credibility.

There is a WSO that helps people get on TV as a news item...$40 K is a big budget for IM but TV? Having said that you could really get the product out anyway with that budget...you could try and use TV as a news item perhaps

I agree that starting online will be your best best. Get some affiliates to promote it and this way you can see what kind of conversions you're getting and make tweaks as you need it. You want to make sure you have everything perfect before going to TV.

  • I think it's a good idea. By the way I know tons of people trying to loose weight all have failed. I hired a coach lost 80 lbs so far. It can be done but looks like most people can't do it.

40k is not a small sum.. It's good to dream big, but start with a smaller budget of maybe 5k.. and work your way up.. I used to have an idea and I only invested 2k in it and it's already profitable now..

It really doesn't take money to make money.. I'm not saying NOT to advertise, you should certainly advertise but start with things like: Press-release, article, video, clickbank.. things that are cheap and affordable.. rather than going for the big cats out there like TV ads! I mean, seriously.. TV advertisement is never cheap..

If your offer doesn't convert.. then you're wasting a whole lot of money on expensive advertisement..

Start small.. once you know your idea/product is a winner then go out there for the BIG one..

It's good to dream BIG (but not naive)

    God bless you,
    Jeremiah

I think you have a good idea - and I don't think you should go small if you want to succeed in that field. You can't tiptoe into a field like that.

I think the "case studies" is irrelevant as you will need your own case studies - but you will also need a unique twist or an unusual training philosophy.

First thing to do is to identify and deconstruct some of the popular training method videos/programs of the past year or two. They have several things in common so identify those and build from there.

You might also consider a 3 way partnership - marketer/trainer/nutritionist.

      Good luck - it's a big undertaking.
