Delivering a free file to stop sharing
I am just about to install a pop up script on my website for a small record label I run Deep House Music, Tech House Music | Nu Jazz, Chill Out Music, Broken Beat, Afro Beat
It offers people who sign up to my list a free track download from one of my artists, Forces of Nature, who have just released a new album.
So I am just setting up my autoresponder to deal with this.
My objective is to try to have a unique link for the file so it can't be shared - ie if I just upload the free track somewhere then that link could be posted anywhere and I would like it unique to that subscriber.
How to do this??? Please can any warriors help me?? :-)
As I see it I have a few options to get them the file:
1. After they confirm their subscription, I email them the track direct - ie attach it to the autoresponder 1st email....easy but don't want to overload people's inboxes
2. Email them a link to a place where the file is uploaded externally, ie sendspace.com or somewhere like that - but then they could share this link with anyone...
3. Host the file somewhere on my own website and link them to that in the first email - either just a URL, or maybe with a password or something???
4. Someone who is helping me out said I could put a link in the email that would then redirect to another link where the file is, also on my website.
I don't really understand what he meant here - what's the point?! They could share the other link too, no??
Loads of you must give away free products...
So what do you do if its a file that's unreasonably large to attach to an email? A 320 MP3 of this track would be about 30/40MB??
Hope you can help! Thanks in advance for any replies! :-)
