It's 2022 And Google Just Went Out Of Business......

.......and the business you built today, where does it stand? Also Yahoo and Bing are just a shadow of what they used to be.

Granted, this may or may not happen, what I'm really asking here is how are you diversifying your business to the point where it's not dependent on one traffic source?

I would love to see a discussion on this. I'll chime in after I've seen some feedback.

Thank you for your time,

RoD

By 2022 I will have amassed a fortune from my online ventures - so much so that I could probably just retire and live off what I have earned.

Of course - my business isn't based on SE's at all, so it will have little impact on me. I just don't like the thought that each keyword can only have three to five people getting all the SEO traffic (and most of these websites are companies that have a lot of money to spend on resources for SEO) whilst other traffic-generating methods allow thousands and potentially more based upon your skill-set and determination.

I don't intend to be a slave to SEO...I intend to focus on serving my lists.

All business owners should plan for the future, and have exit strategies.

That being said, I am new to IM and building my first IM business (a PLR store).

However, I am not new to business and I know how to create a secure opportunity for myself.

    Just my two cents...

I am planning to make enough money in the next year or two to be able to get out of SEO and IM altogether and invest in more long term stable businesses and some real estate, but I am done trying to please the google gods and playing by all their stupid rules and changing my methods and strategies every few months to try and get or keep #1 rankings. I used to love the challenge and fun but it's just not worth it anymore and it's only going to get a lot harder as time goes on.

One of the very best skills you can ever have (both for your own business as well as others') is to be a ninja at PPC/Ad buys. No matter what happens with search engines down the line, when you know how to buy ads and turn small amounts of money into large amounts, you can pretty much right your own ticket.

Lolol. That is a great question. I'd almost put money on Google being around then still.

However, I plan to create a mailing list sooner rather than later, and I hope that that then keeps me going through various economic states.

I wish more people will start visiting Bing, ask, and Yahoo so to spread the powers...

If that's the case, I am very fortunate that I built a solid email list to promote my services to and have built solid business relationships over the years.

2022 has been a tough year without search engines, but thanks to what all internet marketing experts told me to do in the beginning of my career, I'm still making a good living.

I'll have moved to "direct mail" by then.

Or, more specifically, to "direct to tablet"

    All success

This is excellent. There are some marketers who compliment their online business with post cards. Some of them even buy lists and send their collateral to those lists. I still receive direct mail pieces from other marketers and I study them.

"Direct to tablet".....I love that term. I'm also amazed at how much traffic some marketers are getting from Facebook apps and smartphone / tablet apps. It's pretty mind-boggling.

It's 2022 and I'm so rich that I bought Google and closed it down...

Sorry guys - it's just that I saw you as competition and it was the strategic move to make...

I instantly killed 90% of my competition by cutting off ALL their traffic in one simple move and seeing as you all had your fingers in only one pie - I thought the pie tasted good, and I wanted it all. You made it easy for me.

The customers knew where to look anyway - and my business was perfectly positioned to swallow up all their new business.

(One day, someone will be saying the above)

Nice food (no pie pun intended) for thought.

Agreed. I'll be the first to admit that my "copy writing" acumen goes down the tubes quickly after each shot I take. It also makes my dyslexia worse. I think I was on my 7th shot of tequila when I wrote that headline the other night.......

EDIT: Ok Bill, I fixed it sortof......happy now???

I would be in the same position as I was the previous day; I would be fine.

Relieing on SEO- or putting all your eggs in one basket, is not a smart way to run a business so to speak.
