Best SOCIAL MEDIA sites

Hey guys,

I was just curious, what have you found are the best social media sites to promote your website on? It seems as though promoting websites through social media is a great way to accumulate backlinks, so I was just wondering which ones would be the best to register for and start promoting my site. (I am a newbie to social networking, by the way)

Stumble, reddit, pintrest for traffic however whatever you submit needs to be good or no one will thumbs up it meaning no views. I got 80,000 views in one day off stumble however the post was very funny so it got thousands of likes and still continues to.

If your selling a product or doing something those communities won't be interested in you won't get much traffic.

Twitter and Facebook are great too but again you need to have a page people actualy will want to like. Paid facebook adds are pretty nice too if you can manage to get cheap bids for clicks.

    I like Google +.

    Google +

It can be what you make it. There are Twitter meetings that I should take advantage of to get to know people. I am sure there are similar meetings in other social media.

That being said, I get 3 times as many retweets and comments from the 220 Google+ people who circled me, as I get from my 10,500 twitter followers.

Pintrest is really fast growing social site. There seems to be a lot of potential affiliate wise but like any other social site don`t continually promote yourself. You also at this stage have to invited.

SQUIDOO is another great site to use to get your links out there. It is not quite social media, but very similar. It is becoming more and more popular, and it is a great way to get backlinks to your main site on an already high quality website.

If you can identify your potential prospects then you would do well to advertise in Facebook and Twitter. The risk of your advertising going off-track is more in social media sites.

Didn't niches work well with different networks. For example Google+ works well with a more tech related niche, Pinterest works well with females, Facebook works well with young adults, and LinkedIn with business professionals.

Stumbleupon, digg, facebook and twitter are my best bets. I don't use the rest, well I do have blogger and tumblr accounts but that's a different story.

You can get easy backlinks with social sites but its as easy to get banned too if you over do it.

I need to look into Pinterest. It's gaining popularity rapidly, and I currently know almost nothing about it. From what I've heard it seems like it could be a great way to promote sites.

    Google + - SEO & Quick Indexing
    Facebook - Largest User Base
    Twitter - Contagious/Viral Potential

StumbleUpon CAN be cool but the traffic doesn't stick. May be great for a news type site that focuses solely on pageviews for advertising revenue.

Forums are the best social media sites.
They've been around for hundreds of thousands
of years, people already have an affinity
(real or perceived), it is more than shallow
conversation, it is far more organized, and
there are moderators to keep the rif-raff under
control, and everyone is on (more or less)
equal footing when it comes to voicing their
    thoughts and opinions.

After all, we're not having this conversation
and making these lists on Facebook or
Twitter or LinkedIn, now are we?
