Default C n C Please - My 4 Year Old Inspired My Newest Design

Howdie Warriors!

I have just finished the look and feel of my Dizzign company (which by the way will be in business VERY SOON - in fact give me a shout now if you need anything) and I would like some Comments and Critisms please before I make it all official

Please bare in mind that it is ONLY the design I have done so far, the links do not work at this very moment in time and there is no writing on the page either. I literally just finished the design and wanted to show you guys and get some good old honest feedback!

(Having said that I bet atleast one person will post "the links don't work")

As I said the idea behind it was inspired by my 4 year old son. (Yes I am 18 years old and have a 4 year old son!). I went for the messy artistic child crossed with modern sleek style look.

I am going to blow all competition out of the water with my company and designs - using a dangerous stragetgy I call: "Under Cut and Over Deliver" - In other words giving clients much better designs than the competition for a lower price.

Well here it is guys and girls, sincere comments and critisms please, please be honest with me: dizzign-system

Thanks in advance!!!

Oh and I will be needing testimonials and examples of my work soon, so theres going to be some opportunitys to get hold of some really cheap, really professional designs. Drop me a PM about this if your interested.

CnC please, I look foward to hearing your views

EDIT - Alot of Warriors are advising me to do social media web 2.0 designs, which is a great idea and something I am strongly thinking about. However, I do really want to connect with Warriors and marketers and design Mini Sites to help out the kind of people who got me making money on the internet in the first place.

So here is an example I just finished of the kind of Mini Site I could do for you fine people

New Page 1

Thanks again!

It's not too bad...the thing that I will change is the logo...a little amateurish looking. And the tabs...the colorful background looks cool in a funky way. And I would definitely get rid of that "NN" repeating design at the bottom.

Just my opinion.

I guess it's good for small screens. My taste doesn't allow me to like the theme, but the design is good. My wide screen (20") makes it look unbalanced, however.

Thank you for sharing you opinion with me. I'm glad you like my funky background, I got the idea from my sons painting! I do see you point about my logo though now... hmmm.. new logo

Is it hanging over towards the left? I will edit it to stay centered, and add on the background image so it doesn't cut off like I expect it will.

Thanks for your input Zoneinfinite and RedMatrix I'm glad I'm getting honest opinions before I make this live.

Cheers again

Any more comments and crits would be great ladies and gentlement

Yeah I think it's looks awesome.

At first the creative paint on the top left was too overbearing however after looking at it again I think it's OK and may look different when you have content on the white page. (1024 by 768 resolution.)

Perhaps something to consider though. You could improve that my moving the whole logo and white page up further providing that doesn't affect the overall design. Or perhaps including something in the "space."

Personally I think the NN design at the bottom looks cool. I'd keep that. Actually that's my favourite part for some reason. I agree the logo could be improved though. There's nothing wrong with it but I think you could create a better one. Perhaps making it bolder would make a difference because it's quite thin and reminds me of something created in one of those "Point and Click" programs.

Just some random thoughts and suggestions. Overall I think it looks great. Always good to see something inspired by a young and creative mind.

Design looks great and modern feel.

Could scare off older offline business people a bit. They are a little more conservative and expect more traditional business colors.

If you were designing backgrounds and templates for Social Web 2.0 folks I think you will get their attention with the creativity you have there.

It certainly is interesting, a lot would depend on how you would focus your visitor with the content, that I am guessing will appear in the obvious place.

I looked at the code, (just for a sec or two) just curious about how much weight your images pull in bandwidth.

noticed, one graphic was about 65kb, still nice looking, for a particular market.

you might consider a splash page, where you could push different designs according to your prospective customer,

conservative business
Web2.0 (as suggested in an earlier post)
Marketing

So that each destination would be slightly tailored to that type of customer to appeal to their likely taste.

Just a few thoughts, have a good one.

OT = Why do you call yourself "Teenage Genius", then post a title that says "My 4 Year Old Inspired My Newest Design"?

Inquiring minds want to know. Something ain't right here.

Probably because he's 18. All of the people I've met who had children earlier than most are much more mature than the average person their age.

Not much of a "Genius" if he fathered a child at age 14!

Fits my screen fine (problem of resolution or browsers?) and it's a good design. I like it.

I also like the name and the way it's displayed. Agree that this will appeal more to web 2.0 marketers - but you could use the same design with a 'milder' color combination, too, to appeal to traditional marketing types.

Very artistic and eye-catching.

Hey Teenage Genius,

The fact that you looked at your son's drawing and then incorporated it and came here to "show off" your child's work like any other proud father is commendable at any age.

I applaud your efforts to make your child's life better and your love shows.

Fathers don't get any better than that.

I like the design in general. It's very eyecatching. You and your son have a great sense of color.

Is this going to be a CSS based layout eventually? I hire out sometimes for unique templates and CMS themes so I tend not to work with designers who employ table based designs.

You might want to change the entire 'teenage genius' though.. among other things, 2 years from now you won't be a teen, and it won't be label you'll want the minute you turn 20

I think it's pretty cool at the mo, but as someone else as pointed out its not going to be relevant in a couple of years.

Might be a shame to brand yourself now then have to look at changing the whole thing a couple of years down the line

I agree with about the logo - It's something I'm trying to sort out now, I've made a few completely different logo concepts but I want to try and make something which will still include the 'SmilieFace' in the logo but bold out the writing.

Thanks Matt.

I see your point about some business people looking for something more 'professional' and 'business-like', I want to target Internet Marketers like us as my main clients because it's Internet Marketers who taught me to make money online in the first place. If I can give back and do something I enjoy then thats great for me!

Do you think the design would scare off Internet Marketers like you and me and the other Warrior's on the site who are looking MiniSites and eBook Covers etc.?

Thanks for sharing your views Tim. Yes the background image is quite large at the moment because I set it too Maxium Jpeg for now as I wanted to view it in the best quality possible for now.

It is also a HTML Table layout at the moment - again just because I wanted to preview it on the net quickly and show it off.

When the design is "live" it will be all CSS and the images will be .gif's or .png's so they are smaller and the page loads faster.

Thank you for you idea about the splash page!!! I love the idea!!!

I think that's what I will do Have a splash page with links to two places: 1) My Funky Internet Marketing / Mini sites / Websites
2) Conservative Business Website Layouts

That is if I do website layouts, I was going to focus on just Mini Sites for the get go and then expand as my popularity and reputation grow.

I'm loving the idea of making WordPress themes at the moment - That is definatly an area I want to Master, but I've never made a WordPress theme in my life lol.

Thanks again for you comments

What can I say? I was badboy but I'm a good guy. Killing a human is out of the question for me and I'm glad because I am a great dad and I love my son more than life itself, he's such an amazing kid!

In fact, there was alot of benifits to having my first child at an early age. Many people will never know what they are, but I'm glad I experienced some of the things I did at 15/16/17 when most people experience these said things later on in life and it destroys them. (Things like break-ups, going through courts for your kids etc.)

I was always mature for my age anyway, but having a child young helps you grow up quickly.

And the faster you grow up the quicker you can join the world of adults and thats where the real world is.

I'm not really too sure about the social media stuff. I mean I can make layouts for MySpace and I don't know any other sites except Bebo which allow custome themes.

Are you sugguesting I market my design services to a younger audience, or design for websites such as MySpace (which is a future project called MyDizzign.com)

I really was hoping to market Dizzign to Internet Marketers because they are sincere about getting a good design for their sites and products as they are making money - and a good image says alot and helps sales.

I take it your screen is 1024x768? It centers perfectly in my screen but I believe it says left of larger screens and widescreens at the moment. But I'm sorting that out!

Thanks for you comments and kind words Kim.

I really need somebody to explain to me what they mean by appeal to Web 2.0 marketers though? I want to sell to marketers full stop. This will be just the layout to my design site which will have other examples of what I can do.

Thanks again Kim

Thanks Strangler for your input and kind words.

Yes when the design is finished completely it will all be CSS and CSS Div's when it goes live. I don't use HTML Tables in web design because the standard now is CSS but I created the preview with tables to get it online quickly for a preview.

What are CMS themes?

Wow thanks Jason! I'm glad you think its cool!!

Yeah the Teenage Geniu$ thing is an issue and I'm not 100% about how to continue it. You see the thing is: I want to be a millionairre before I am 20, or at the least have the appearence of a millionairre (Porshe's, Design Clothes etc.) so that I can live up to the name.

I was thinking of just changing my name when I am 20 to Geniu$ - Formerly known as Teenage Geniu$. And hopefully by that time enough people will know about me to understand whats going on.

Put I'm not 100% on the subject.

Thanks again.

OK Guys I just wanted to show you this...

As I'm going to need "examples of my work" to show possible future clients, I will be doing cheap designs soon to gain reviews and testimonials.

But before I do that I am going to make a few designs for myself just to show off (or I might use them one day, or I will sell them if anyone wants to buy them).

Yeah so I made this so far: (It's a Design for a BlackHat Mini Site. I called it the Blackhat BankJob Blueprint, there is no such product but it's for the purpose of showing off my design skill)

TG

I absolutely love your designs, I definitely think you should hit social media stuff, there are a heck of a lot more people out their using social web 2 sites than there are IM.

Stuff like this design would be perfect for backgrounds for twitter, facebook etc.

Having said that, no reason why you can't factor in the IM market as well

Good luck with it, tho I suspect you don't need much luck, you are very talented

Kim

Hi TG,

Like the design, but dont think it will be relevant if your market is the Internet Marketers, they are a funny bunch and there are very few that actually want to push the realms of design.

Your design on your own page I fear might actually hurt your business with that market rather than help.

One course of action would be to get your designs seen by a majority. Offer free designs to big named marketers, get them on board earlier and it wouldnt hurt

Good Luck, and as a father of 3 myself, I know exactly what you mean about having to grow up quicker

If you need any advice in the graphics field, you can hit me up

Thanks Kim

The only thing I'm not sure about with Social Media is - Is there a market for such things as Twitter Backgrounds?

Wordpress Themes is a definate - I will have to learn how to code them.

But things like backgrounds?

And thanks for your input Darren - always good to have advice from a designer

Thanks for the advice about getting big named marketers on board, you've gave me some great ideas/plans

Oh yes and just in case anybody is interested....

I just finished this Mini Site... I made it simply as an example of what I can do for you guys, check it out: New Page 1

Tell me what you think. And don't be afraid to drop me a PM if you want a MINI SITE designed for you (I can do ALL things like eBook covers etc matching your mini site for your product also)

Thanks again,
Geniu$

I like the fluid margins you use - but for a minisite it's not all about the graphics. I wouldn't use a template or header that showed only graphics as the site loaded.

For a minisite - or any site for that matter - I think of the graphics - header, footer, background as a FRAME for the content. If the graphic in your first post were available in muted colors (blue/green for example), it's something I would use. The one on the minisite is too busy and far too big except as an example of graphics ability.

Wordpress templates are good even if you give them away as you can include your link in the footer of the page.

Thanks Kay

I see what you mean about my Mini Site example, it does rather dominate the page. But making it smaller and a better size is no problem at all.

I love the Warrior Forum you know! So many great people willing to help out! I will have mastered everything by the time the site goes live, create a few templates for myself to use as an underlay of Mini Sites and I'm going to look into Twitter stuff.

Thanks again everyone,
Geniu$
