Income Proof For Flippa

I always wonder what the proper protocol for income proof is when selling a site on Flippa, there are some that are comfortable only showing screenshots which we all know can be faked very easily. Would a video of the seller signing into accounts such as paypal or clickbank be enough for a buyer to do their due diligence on a sites income? I know others mention screen share or remote access but I find both to be intrusive and the latter not only a risk of personal privacy but of information (think stolen client/personal information or viruses). Would it be safe to say that video is the best way to go? I want to sell a very profitable site but worry that buyers will demand screen shares or remote access. Any input?

I would think video should be good enough. If someone is interested enough you could always work with them further.

I usually only do screenshots when I show proof of PayPal, because I am able to blur out my customers emails and names. I take Privacy Issues very serious and even when someone ask to see my screen I will always decline, because I am not able to blur out that section of my screen so they can not see emails and names.

Yes, screenshots can be faked and even video can be faked. But, if someone likes your websites and they see proof then they will bid or even buy it. Description and Title means a lot to me when I am selling my sites, also contacting those that bid on your sites and also making sure you reply to those that are messaging you.

I don't see an issue with sharing my screen when it comes to ClickBank, as long as I don't show anyone my customers emails or information details.

Hey everyone thanks for your help and Clintin it's great to hear from another warrior from north carolina! You're right about the PayPal proof I was thinking the same thing myself. There truly is no way to blur out information during a screen share. That's what worried me the most.

Record a video with your iPod or another device instead of screen capture. Screen capture is unfortunately also quite easy to fake however a video recorded off a camera isn't. It should be enough. However, if you're selling an authority site for $10,000+ then I would recommend you let them see your screen via remote access as long as they prove that they are really willing to buy your website and sign an NDA agreement. It would definitely spike the price if you were able to show the income proof via remote access.

    Hi Ben,
That's not a bad idea about using another device. My site has made well above 10,000 in profit so I'm sure it will sell for more. I would like to be able to allow remote access if it's mandatory but being that it isn't it seems like a risk to me and my customers. Just because someone claims they'll pay for the site or even signs a NDA doesn't mean that they will adhere to those promises. In a world where you can stay pretty much anonymous online people are finding new ways to scam which includes buyers and sellers. This is all way too confusing, perhaps it's best to list it and explain my concerns outright and those that don't want to bid based on my video proof alone is welcome to find someone else who will allow remote access or screen sharing.

Build trust with them. Call them, speak with them, perhaps even tell them to give his/her address and other personal information that you can use against them as a deposit for showing your income proof via remote access. There are many ways to build trust with your customers.

Perhaps the buyer is willing to buy your website as long as he verifies the income proof. Tell him to make a deposit. Again, you can overcome your fears with a matter of ways, you just need to be creative and think secure.

AshleyBoo please do not post on threads unless you have something to contribute. You're new so maybe you don't know the rules of the road but spamming will only make people skeptical of you. Good luck!

I would be happy with a video. It's more difficult to fake. Of course, it would all depend on the seller as well.

Hi Tadresources thanks for that! I'm trying to find a way to be as transparent as possible while allowing my customers and myself to feel some sense of information protection. Would it be worth it to go through a broker instead? Do buyers tend to believe brokers because they are able to see everything first hand in terms of income and traffic proof?

Videos can be faked as easily as screenshots. If I were buying a high dollar site with high dollar income claims, I would want screen sharing. If you can't provide the most reliable income proof, then I discount the income claims altogether.

That is the best advice I would INSIST on doing a screenshare if there was anything of consequence being claimed on the site for sale. I know a while ago there was a wso where the guy was using a video for proof of income and turns out that was a scam. I've never tried it before but i gotta think it can't be that hard to fake videos. Screenshots are surely a piece of cake.

I would consider videos to be more reliable than Paypal screenshots but if I'm interested in buying a website I always check the seller's feedback and contact him/her directly in order to assess their credibility.

Some other things you can do is offer the "view only" function with google analytics to confirm traffic. As well as using an escrow. This provides more safety for the buyer then it does for the seller.

When doing a screen share you can block certain parts of the screen. Just create a document with notepad and the lay it over the parts of the screen that you want to share. Depending on what you want to hide it might work.

How about certified earnings statements from an accountant? You know, the ones that get generated when you do your taxes. Submit them to a real escrow company and they'll have to verify them or it's their hiney.

I wouldn't buy spit without authentic earnings statements.
