I have about 40+ websites that I would like to start building lists from. Can anybody point me in a direction of how to best go about doing this. What service should I use ect…? I never use mailing lists so I am new to this aspect of marketing.

For a large list, you'll want a professional email provider. For a small list, you could get away with WP Autoresponder. The problem is if your list gets too big, you won't be able to send out enough emails because your webhosting provider will only let you send out a certain number of emails an hour.

Aweber is what 90% of people will suggest. Imnica mail has better prices. Mailchimp has a free option, but can't be used for affiliate marketing. Constant Contact is another option. There are more, but I can't think of them. I use Imnicamail.

No one wants to sign up for newsletters anymore, so the basic strategy is to offer a free report but require people to opt in to your list before you email them the download link.

Another interesting option is to set up wordpress so that anyone who registers for your site automatically gets added to your list. Imnica mail offers a free plugin that does this. Aweber probably does too, but I'm not sure about that.

There's got to be a free WSO out there about how to build a list. You might try a google search for free wso list building.

Hope that helps get you started.

Oh... just remembered another way to build a list is through something called a jv giveaway. It's where you offer a free ebook or something on a giveaway website and people have to opt-in to get it.

First decide if any of your sites make sense on the same mailing list.
(People looking to cure an ingrown toenail are not looking for the same information as someone who wants to train their dog. But a site about cats and a site about dogs might both fit in a list of pet lovers.)
Once you know how many mailing lists you need, look into the various autoresponder services to figure out which one best meets your needs.
    Some things to consider:
    Does it have good deliver-ability?
Can you send out broadcast messages as well as sequential messages?
Is there a limit on how many people you can have on your list?
Do you have the ability to import leads?
Do people have to double opt-in, or can you do a single opt-in list?
Is there a limit on how many autoresponders you can set up on the service?

Naturally, there are more things to consider, but answering those can get you set on the right path. Most warriors will probably recommend either aweber or get response for your autoresponder service.

    Hope this helps,
