About Targeted Traffic and conversions

I am considerting to buy some trageted traffic for my affilliate website. Can anybody provide some insights on how effective the targeted traffic perform generally.

Also,I find a strange phenomenon about my website's current traffic.I can get over 200 visitors from affiliates website, but convertions from affiliate traffic is much much lower compared to the conversions by my own traffic.Let's say,my domain name is xxx.com,and in many times,i find there are traffic coming from yyy.xxx.com,and yyy.com is other domain name, which is not mine.I doubt if this kind of traffic is valid for conversions. Can anybody know about this issue or problem.

That is why I am considering to put energy in organic seo, instead of other marketing methods.

The second part of your question is confusing.

You traffic will convert better because you know your market better so when you purchase it you will do a better job than affiliates since most of them will be blasting their email lists with your affiliate link. Not all of the people on their lists will be your target market.

It hard to say how the traffic will perform. It depends on the traffic source, how good is your offer and even the market your in.

If you are going to buy traffic, then direct them to a squeeze page and send them to your website later. Build your list. Then promote your site to your list in your email messages.

Just sending people to your site doesn't usually work as well.

Absolutely right you need to warm up your target audience first and develop a relationship with them. Also try to get an Idea of how well your squeeze page and sales funnel converts. If you you know your EPC (earnings per click) then all you need to do is find a way to get targeted traffic at a lower CPC (cost per click) then your EPC. If you can do this then you are in business. So many people go out of business very quickly simply because their CPC is higher then their EPC.

      Hope this helps.

You'd generally expect to make a sale from every 50 targeted visitors to your website. If you're getting less than this, its either it's a high-end product or something is wrong with your copyrighting. This is one area you may also need to look into.
