Comments are being automatically approved!?

I don't know what's going on, but I have about 900 spam comments on my website and they've all been automatically approved? I'm using Wordpress, how do I make sure they are approved first?

    Word Press offers many free plugins that you can install and activate via your Admin Panel that will help you with comment spam. Just do a search using "spam comment". This will help alleviate the number of spam comments you get.
