For a person to take you by the hand and mentor you they will charge you. $500, $997, $1,997 might be the price. Successful people are not cheap to hire for personal mentoring.

I have built a trading site for moms, i have local moms in counties running chapters. they submit items they no longer need to the site. it is a paid membership site, well 3000 membership sites, all locally targetted. I am trying to convert local moms to purchase membership to be apart of their local group of moms trading.
My road blocks are not converting my visitors. im really stuck....

I am not a pro but i am still learning things like you.Though I already made 3 sales and looking for more.

It took me 2 months to get my first sale and believe me in the beginning I was doing many things wrong and do you know how I changed all my wrong things into right ??? by looking at other people sales page which are already converting well . Even a minor change in your website can bring you lot of sales.

oviously I have not made my first dollar. I am a stay at home mom barely stealing hours here and there to put together my business. I really have no extra money. that is why I am building my business to begin with!

What i do have is several moms very excited about running a local chapter... that is kind of a suceess for me.

Rent a big room and invite local chapter and explain to them in person why they should join your site. You can think of a catchy name to invite them in. Call it a seminar and tell each one to bring an item they want to trade. Lets say you get 10 people to come and they exchange their junk. After that you can upsell your site's membership and the benefit that they will have by trading it among more users. This is the same as your ad copy should be going for. Describe how moms will get rid of all the junk every month and get new stuff that they want instead. A small price to pay (your monthly fee) for this fun way to clean up their house.

You should also invite your local friends to join the site. Post it locally on CL as well for some extra free traffic.

ramit sethi has some good information on his blog about finding a mentor. its not im related, but definitely applicable in all fields. just do a google search for him

Business is a blessing and a curse. It quickly breaks the weak from the strong. It is lonely and there won't be people to hold your hand, but, you can ask questions, make inquiries, and, keep pushing. Hopefully one day you will be a success, and, can tell others how to do it in this forum.

Hey bro you may not need a mentor as much as you think ..I said this before to a guy in your similar situation its like a ship at sea that just drifts aimlessly until its sails are up in the right wind and with the right navigator once you have found all that then the ship can sail itself.. I love the idea of having a local get together. However, because I currently have several local sites running, how on earth am I supposed to set up a local meeting for all the sites? It would become very costly after awhile.

You should've made it one large site instead of a lot of small sites. It is easier to maintain one large site instead of hundreds of small ones.

Try looking at some other membership websites that are already successful, take a look at ClickBank for membership sites. Ad Copy, whether it is for membership sites, selling vitamins, or GRQ IM schemes - ALL follow pretty much the same formula. The problem is outlined, the solution is presented, plus additional free benefits, testimonials from satisfied users/customers, a call to action, a time limit for the offer, additional benefits but only if you act now. You get the idea.
The point is copy what works. Now let me be abundantly clear I am NOT saying plagiarize, I'm saying follow the path that has already been blazed, put it in your own unique voice, tailored to your offer. Look at the ads that some IM's use here "How I made a zillion dollars last month!" Use a "hook" that captures the interest and promises to meet the needs of your target audience. Yea, some of them are pretty cheesy- but the fact of the matter is- they work! Look at your own experience, ever sign up for a membership site? Why? What was the draw?
If you really are stuck on a paying for a coach it is going to cost you! People who are successful are in high demand and they are priced accordingly! My experience (and I am sure there are exceptions) is that most people who advertise to coach or build your business have NEVER done it for themselves, so practice due diligence and seek references that you can verify for yourself, or you may end up with a coach that strangely resembles the old Chris Farley character from SNL (living in a van down by the river) You might get lucky and find a coach that is so confidant they can help you that they will only charge you a small fee to start and then ask for a percentage of each sale. Ideally you will have a clear sales goal, that they are going to help you meet by a certain time or not charge you full price. Payments follow performance, so avoid paying a big fee up front and hearing "just give it a few weeks" you probably won't be able to find them later. Good Luck! Go Slow!
