Have You Noticed This? Spammer Alert.

So, it seems a new tactic for spammers to rock WF is to dig up old threads and post in them.

Yesterday I noticed a couple (new) users doing this, and today just saw another one - first post is on a old thread... and these guys are dropping the usual spammy siglink.

This thread serves as a heads-up for WF users, as I am sure MODS are taking care of us But folks, please don't forget to Report these weird/spammy posts using the RED TRIANGLE bellow your username box:

Just to add - report the spammer and DON'T post in the thread. Otherwise others will start posting answers to questions that are years old.

Firstly, the Mods are very good at taking care of
spam etc, when you report them...

Another trick is to use previous posts from a thread
or post nonsensical one-liners to "test the water".
If their posts stick they then add spam links a few days
    later...

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

I don't agree. If (in most cases) people were to do a search before asking questions, they would find answers to those questions and wouldn't need to post at all, either in the old thread or creating a new one.

Sorry but that statement makes no sense. How does using the search function encourage spammers?

It's still better than having them post in new threads.

Is there a time limit on threads?

I mean, do they get deleted after a certain period of time to save on storage space on the server?

Not sure about that, but don't think so.

If someone gave you a clue, it would be lonely.

The ones over the past few days have been people who want to up their post count so they can PM. Neither of the two I PM'd about it understood that they were pushing those threads back to the top page. Simple inexperience. And absolutely nothing to do with anyone searching for info.
