What would you change to my website if it was yours?

I bought this website on flippa some months ago. It makes about £40 a month, with 1200 uniques per month and 15% clicktrhough rate.

Flower Delivery UK

Do you think it is a good idea to change the theme to xfactor theme from clickbump? Any ideas? What would you do to increase earnings?

I want to stress I'm not website designer, but that shade of green is just really unappealing to me. You also might want to consider adding some new content to your website, maybe some practical advice about taking care of flowers, etc.

What would I change? Those daft articles. They make your site sound spammy and unhelpful. People are only clicking to get away from the site. 85% of your visitors know where the back button is!

Replace them with proper, sensible text telling visitors how to get flowers delivered, explaining how they can choose their flowers onnline and the florist local to the recipient will make up and deliver whatever they have chosen, etc. Then give links to flower delivery services.

As a visitor I really don't wnat to be told, "Cheap flower delivery is very sought after in modern society." That alone would make me leave your site. It's pointless (I WANT flower delivery that's why I'm on your site); is the first, vital sentence that captures your visitor's attention or makes them leaves, and is just what I call a "filler" sentence to boost word count.

Edit: I'd add to that. Change the home page from a blog to a static page and lose all those spammy comments on the blog bit.

    Nice photo "Jane"

I would echo what others have said.

The green in the theme just doesn't go with the tan color outside of the main container. Personally, I'd lose the "Discount Codes" thing at the top. Only one company has a code there and that has expired. I think it leaks people away from clicking on the company links anyway.

Yeah, I think the content needs to address things like others have mentioned. It is pretty generic. I would also put a sticky post at the top with a blurb about each of the companies. I'd grab images of 3-4 great packages they sell and include them. Again, personally, I'd contact each of the owners and ask them for a personal blurb of 3-4 lines about their business and show an image of them or their shop.

I think it needs a bit of personalization. It's not horrible or anything like that, but I'll bet you could increase the click-throughs by giving some more up-close-and-personal tips to readers.

Just some thoughts. Good luck with it though!!!

I agree with everything that Carol (rosetrees) said.

Also, did you check the copyright info when you bought the site? If not, you should address that.

An image search for "Jane"s photo throws up some interesting results.

You're not wrong there. Including a few entries which say that, very sadly, she has passed away.

I would seriously remove that image before it's found and causes distress.

I actually don't mind the green considering the site is about flowers, but overall I agree with what everyone has said above. Good luck to you!

The top part looks too empty. Add a header image with some beautiful flowers, at least.

What everyone has said is very helpful, I would also add some sort of opt-in popup offering a discount of some sort so you can capture names and emails so you can start building a list. For your business this will be HUGE, especially when holidays roll around, I know for a fact that I've used online flower shops around all major holidays simply because I've received emails from certain shops.

    Hope that helps.

I think the green could work if the layout was modified a bit, and more colour (images of flowers?) was included in the header.

I'd suggest improving the design with more colours and images of flowers, add better content (focus on helping my visitors find what they're looking for).
At the moment, my first impression is that it's just another blog site, and not a flower delivery service.. Maybe try to copy the layout of a website selling a similar service

I agree with Carol (rosetrees). The aesthetics of the site could do with a little work, the color scheme is not the most attractive and a simplified home page with more images and less writing could be beneficial. Good luck

the menu at the top is to long in my browser so it wraps around and the international flower delivery is on the next line. Amend style-Green.css line 129 to have no margin. If you don't know anything about css you will have something like margin-right: 10px; just change that to say 0px. Might just be my browser however I use the latest version of Firefox and it is usually pretty good at displaying things correctly.

I also agree with the rest that the site looks a little on the spammy side. Be a bit careful about wholesale changes though as you may end up losing your position in Google.

I agree with rosetrees, the whole site appears spammy. I know I woud not be attracted to buy flowers from this spammy looking site. The colors are dull..add more life and zest and more pics of flowers.
