Here's my advice, spend about a week or so detoxing your list, click that button a billion times and kick every marketer to the curb.

After you're done, go create a secondary e-mail specifically for opt in offers. This is an e-mail you won't check very often, but you keep open just in case someone offers you something in exchange for a confirmed opt in.

This will help separate direct access to your inbox from marketing news and product announcements. After all, people don't get rich from buying, they get rich from selling, so you can't listen to these all day.

If you have services you are sick of getting e-mails from and you don't know how to unsubscribe, just replace your original e-mail address with your marketing e-mail address and poof, no more crap stuffing your inbox.

This is exactly why I am shifting from traditional opt-in forms to "connect using Facebook" buttons on squeezepages.

I do know that many have secondary FB accounts but usually they stay logged in to their main FB account which, for the majority, uses their primary e-mail address.

There is a tool being launched on Sunday that takes this one stage further. I was so impressed by this I put a post about it on my blog (see sig)
