Reach Out to Affiliates for Increased Revenue

Having released a few products already this year on the forum, I clearly understand the power of affiliates. In fact, I would go as far as to say that 85-90% of all sales are from affiliate promotions.
Wherever possible I try to reach out and nurture relationships with those affiliates at some point during the promotion and afterwards to respect the difference they have made to my campaigns.
I am also an affiliate and do promote products for other vendors and cant quite believe how many Warriors don't actually reach out & connect with their affiliates.
For example, I promoted maybe twice for one vendor this year and had modest sales. They never once contacted me, never once said thank you and even ignored my skype contact request. Now, how does that make me feel when I see them releasing another product? Do you think I am ready to jump all over it and promote it?
You know, of course I want to earn money from my promotions but not to the point of being used or ignored by other vendors. For me, the connection and relationship is just as important. Also, if the vendor cannot be bothered to reach out to me after I have put effort into making them money, is it reasonable to think they maybe treat their buyers in the same way?
I want my connections to be happy about the products that I mail and therefore I want to know they will be treated well and not ignored.
So the BIG point here is for you to just take the time to reach out and connect with your affiliates, it will make a world of difference and they most likely will also mail twice or three times if they have a connection rather than the one quick fishing trip.
Just as a closing thought though, there might be an affiliate out there who maybe promoted for me and hasn't heard from me yet. This is partly because of the limitations in my affiliate platform that restricts the amount of mailing to affiliates but you can be sure, any affiliates who convert are getting messages from me and I try hard to build networks.
Don't leave money on the table, make your affiliates feel valued and I guarantee your revenue will increase...simple basic rules of engagement I feel but still, it needs saying.
And as to the person who never tried to reach out to me, I am sorry, they have just lost out on whatever sales I would have driven to them. No big shakes but every sales counts I believe.

Thank you for the post. I am not new to IM by all means but I have kept to myself for the most part and developed all my own tools in the past. My business partner and I have kept all our secrets, tools and tactics to ourselves and have been doing really well staying a few steps ahead of the masses. I have a few questions for you regarding affiliates.
    1. How do you get in contact with them? I assume they get in touch with you when they see a launch with high conversions.
    2. How do you go about putting your product in front of them? Review Copy?

I will be doing my first launch April 2nd. Its with an extremely powerful Linkedin Automation bot, that drives super targeted (118,262 page views last 30 days with a 14% CTR) traffic to adsense pages on autopilot. It is software I developed and use everyday. I know it will be of huge value to anyone that implements it as It makes money the first day it is used.
Anyway, I plan on giving out 10 or so review copies. I really wanted those copies to go to affiliates as well as members of the forum that are active users and well respected within the forum. If you may have any advice for me I would be all ears.
Me being a new face around here and no body ever has used my tools. I plan on changing that and not only launch a few tools in the near future but also share my knowledge and add value to the forum. Again thanks for the post.

Hi and thanks for your reply. There are many different strategies that you can take when approaching affiliates. In the main, once you launch a product, you will attract affiliates even though these affiliates might only account for about 5% of your total sales.
You will find that the best affiliates are the ones that you nurture over time and will probably sell 80-90% of your overal sales, with the rest coming from your own efforts (depending upon your list size of course).
To get the top affiliates to promote for you is like I said, all about relationships. It is not enough just to hit them up or send free reviews, you need to build longer lasting relationships which you can do through Skype or PM on this forum.
I can't say what works for me really, I just go with my own gut instinct, if I get a feeling that something is right, then I will get behind it. If I have any doubts, then I walk away.
In any case, good relationships with affiliates is key to a successful launch, especially in the early days.
I know this is a little vague but I think you will find your own strategy that works for you but please don't expect to walk right into big affilaite promotions, it usually doesn't work like that.
      Hope this helps a bit.

I'm the marketer in question and yes indeed, I sure did drop the ball!

As a solopreneur who is out like a light by 7pm, gets up at 4am, has 4 kids, 2 mooses, a spouse, a flock of Twitter Budgies and is running me own business..... my time really does get away from me.

Still though, that's no excuse and quite honestly, I am hugely wrong for not contacting my affiliates to say thanks!

Very glad Tony pinged me in Skype. I might be clueless at times, but hey.

    I'm always in learning mode!

    Hopefully I'll do better.

You have touched upon an interesting topic Tony. You hear about vendors making so much money, making so and so sales but never mention their highly appreciated affiliates (deep down) but it is not coming across like that.

I think this is a good reminder to everyone.

That is incredibly open and honest of you Barbling, I didn't expect a reply like that.

I truly hope that other marketers see this thread and think twice.

As for Barbling, that is an immense step you took there and I will be promoting again today I know I don't send hoardes but 10 affiliates like me and it is not so bad I guess.
