A Newbie in dire need of help with my first website.

Hello fellow warriors.

I recently joined this forum to learn more about making money on the internet, I have been looking for ways to make money on the internet for over a year now and haven't been able to start out yet.
Today i asked my mum for a loan to start a website that would eventually make me some money, as great as my mum is she gave me 2000 NOK which is roughly 350 USD. I'm 25 years old and haven't achieved anything in my life yet, been unable to work much because of health issues and I want to make a grand achievement!

So I want to make a profitable website and sadly i need some help with that even with my 1+ year of research. I've read a lot of useful information on the warrior forum and decided this must be the place to ask for help/guidance

I have like a million questions for you guys and hope that someone might have some answers.

Where should i but my domain name and web-hotel? Is there places i shouldn't buy from?
I's it okey to use a wordpress site or should i try to make a html/CSS site?
Which is easiest to make money with for a newbie? Adsense, amazon affiliate or Clickbank? Maybe other suggestions?

The hardest part for me is to find out what niche to start out in and how to research Keywords, i have tried to research keywords a lot but everything i find is stuffed with pagerank 4-6 on the first page! Suggestions?

The final question that i remember i had is, will i be able to outsource everything for the 350 dollars i have? I would need to outsource content and i really want to use a WSO here "search engine optimization best search engine optimization service wf guaranteed" and i probably need to outsource Onsite SEO also.

If anyone want to become a free mentor please contact me via E-mail "prebenulsted at gmail dot com" (I'm not proud of myself to ask for a free mentor, but at this stage of wanting a website as badly as i do, I'm willing to put my pride aside.)

Any other suggestions, tips or tricks is highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Fezd

Host gator is probably best, but Google it if you want to find out more.

Of course. I use Wordpress on all my sites!

If you want cash now, offer some services on Fiverr or here on Warrior Forum. You won't make much starting out in Amazon or CB unless you have the means to drive a lot of traffic, which at this point in your IM career, you really, REALLY don't.

Try launching a thread for article writing and having a professional help you with the ad copy. Use that money to funnel into your affiliate sites and make more cash.

You could also try having a professional research your keywords and site for you, and set it up for you rather than doing it yourself. This would probably be a lot easier than doing it all on your own and would allow you to learn from someone better than you while making money.

Try market samurai or traffic travis.

You are not going to get a free mentor. A person who values their time is not going to hold somebodies hand when they make excuses. You have the money or the ability to pay for a mentor. The whole world knows it and nobody is going to get a free pass. Its better that I tell you this at the beginning. If you truly don't have the money then earn your stripes. Dig in and educate yourself. Do not fall into the dreaded newbie trap of taking less action and more studying. Make mistakes and make them at lightspeed. For every question you have their is a answer if you search. TAKE 90% ACTION and 10% Learning. I am not saying take blind action. Make a plan and start following it. Hold your self accountable. Light the fire under your own... Moral of the story... NEVER ASK FOR A FREE MENTOR AGAIN... Its insulting.

I've seen quite a few fellow warriors in WF who willingly put up their hand to help newbies, what's wrong with that?

A mentor doesn't have to be someone who makes millions. Someone who has 2 months IM experience can be a mentor to a complete beginner.

I still believe that NOT everyone is preoccupied with making money even though we all want to MMO.

There are some good hearted people who are willing to help those who need it.

If a mentor is willing to do it for free, at least his/her heart is at the right place and not trying to make money from you.

      James,

I think I learned more in that 10 second speech than I have learned in the past 9 or so months of - yes - studying. Thanks so much for pointing out what should have been obvious.

      All the best friend.

Hosting, most people seem to like Hostgator. Domain registration, I like GoDaddy. I know other warriors have bad feelings about them, but I had horrible experiences with namecheap.

Wordpress is perfectly fine for running your website. I run all my sites with WP and there are free plugins which can do most (though not all) of the things that anyone in IM would want to do.

Picking a niche: the best advice is to pick something you are passionate about and can offer your own opinions about. This is much more likely to allow you to succeed in the long term.

With $350, you won't get too far with outsourcing the work of writing quality content which means you need to do much of the work yourself.

As far as easiest way to make money, pretty much all the methods work. The question is only whether or not you are willing to put the work in. It's not instant. I say over and over again -- there is no magic button that you push and truckloads of money start backing down your driveway. No matter what anyone tells you, it really is work.

If however you want to raise more money, then figure out which skills you can offer and use your website to offer those skills. Take an ad in the warriors for hire section and put yourself on places like Elance, Guru and oDesk as well. You won't make a ton of money and it won't be passive income, but it is a way to start and to get some money together to be able to invest in other things.

Outsourcing -- Fiverr does have some great people. Look for people who have excellent feedback and have been there for a while. However, remember that even though it's only $5 each time, it does add up. So don't go too crazy.

Finally, mentoring, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago where someone mentioned a site where you can request a mentor. Here it is: Find an Email Mentor | SCORE. See if you can find someone there who matches your needs. Not sure how much they'll do though.

Finally, as James said, the most important thing is to take action. Do the hard work of getting yourself educated and getting a site built. Do the hard work of earning money and you'll be fine. Just try to avoid the shiny object syndrome and search for the magic button syndrome that so many WF members seem to succumb to all the time.

    Best of luck.

    Eric

Thank you for all the great feedback, as for the asking of a free mentor is because i asked how much a mentor would cost in another thread and someone told me that either they are really expensive or i could find one free.

With outsourcing i pretty much need content. And i want to use a WSO for ranking in the serps which costs me 80USD for 1 url and 3 keywords which had hundreds of awesome reviews from warriors.

More questions if i might ask, I've never really understood how to get keywords in a blog. Say I'm starting out with 3 keywords that i want to rank for, should i make 3 blog posts each with 1 keyword to rank for and then find more keywords for all the other posts i publish? or just get those 3 blog posts with keywords I want to rank for and then just post quality posts for the readers to read?

And if I want to become an amazon or CB afilliate, should I always try to sell stuff in each post? or should i post blog posts without links to amazon also? Can i have both adsene and amazon on the same site?

Should i have say Aweber opt-in box on my site to get e-mails also?

I know earning money on the internet can be a lot of work and can take time, Right now I'm unemployed and have lots of time and ready to do the work it takes.

Hi Fedz...if you are seeking a couple of free ways to get started..you definately can't go past social media. Learn how Facebook/Twitter works, master one thing and stick to it. Beware though..you must exercise etiquette on these sites or you will be booted off!

For hosting I would go with Hostgator - I've never even heard of anyone having problems with them and they have always worked great for me.

This is such a broad topic if i were you I'd plan on spending up to $30 or so and look through the WSO section for one on affiliate marketing that goes from picking a niche to buying a domain and getting hosting to putting up a wordpress site and auto responder to building traffic.
You're going to get a fair idea of how much is really involved and how much work is involved in putting up a site and running your business.
There is a lot to learn and you want to get a broad picture of how much you really have to learn so look for an a-z type WSO and view it as a learning experience. Then with what you learn you can look at some others on specific things you need help with. But don't spend a lot of time looking through WSO's. Get something to learn from and put it into practice. It's easy to get distracted with all of the stuff constantly coming out. Focus on your business first.
The number one thing to keep in mind is that taking action is #1. No matter what you learn if you don't take action and apply it you will not make any money. You're going to hear that a lot because it's true.
    Good luck.

    Hiya Fezd,

So I want to make a profitable website and sadly i need some help with that even with my 1+ year of research. I've read a lot of useful information on the warrior forum and decided this must be the place to ask for help/guidance

    1) Researching will only get you so far. At one point, you must take action. Do not be afraid of getting criticized. Do not be afraid of being told you are/were wrong. Do not be afraid to make mistakes but always be willing to learn from them.
From this point, only research what you can DO better, and HOW to do it better. Don't buy the 'next shiny object' WSO.

Where should i but my domain name and web-hotel? Is there places i shouldn't buy from?
I's it okey to use a wordpress site or should i try to make a html/CSS site?

Doesn't matter where/who you get domain/hosting from initially. Most say GoDaddy for domains, bluehost/hostgator for hosting. Me personally, I host 'with' Godaddy (and reg domains), but through my own reseller site.

Which is easiest to make money with for a newbie? Adsense, amazon affiliate or Clickbank? Maybe other suggestions?

Any of these are valid. The meat of your answer will be at the end of this post.

The hardest part for me is to find out what niche to start out in and how to research Keywords, i have tried to research keywords a lot but everything i find is stuffed with pagerank 4-6 on the first page! Suggestions?

Analysis paralysis! You're afraid to fail, and therefore fail to act based on that fear. I have PR-0 sites that rank better than PR4-6/etc. PR is not the most predominant factor in where you show in in the SERPs, although it is 1 small thing to look at when considering a niche.

The final question that i remember i had is, will i be able to outsource everything for the 350 dollars i have? I would need to outsource content and i really want to use a WSO here "search engine optimization best search engine optimization service wf guaranteed" and i probably need to outsource Onsite SEO also.

Spend a little on domains and hosting, and spend some on learning all the facets of SEO you can (On-page SEO and off-page (backlinks/etc). See, the thing here is, you can "give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime" (or something like that). If you LEARN all of these things you originally might want to outsource, you will KNOW what a great outsourcing job looks like, and what a poor/marginal outsourcing job looks like. A great manager knows how to filter quality from their employees. A great outsource user must work exactly the same; they know how to filter great quality, and will continue to employ those workers. You can't know quality until you know the mechanics and how the system works. Don't outsource until you know exactly what quality to expect at a given price point.

So, here's the meat about picking a 'niche'. Most will want to review all options, and pick the least competitive for the highest dollar. Which makes sense. But another approach that I recommend is actually just start with what you ENJOY! You will NEVER work if you do something you ENJOY (although, you will still participate in it, it's not really work if you like doing it, right)? So, think about what you REALLY enjoy and consider yourself an expert on. Can you WRITE about that topic in-depth? Or record videos about it and post to youtube for traffic? Can you make ME an expert? Can you make ME come to YOU everytime I want advice? Can you make ME (the consumer) desire to read your content/reviews/articles/newsletter/whatever and eventually, make ME want to buy something that you've recommended (Amazon/Clickbank) OR, while viewing your site after my 10th visit or so, I notice a side bar ad that I'm interested in (adsense or some other PPC program).

You have to focus on your passion; there are almost guaranteed 100 ways to make money in ANY niche (by definition: profitable): you can find products or some cost-per-action network to pay you for traffic/etc.

Don't start out too big, just start! Learn and grow and make that 'one thing that you do the BEST' make you the recognized EXPERT where people turn to to make THEM learn about that thing also.

good luck to you. I would say the first step is know what you want/need, and setting your work to match. If you need money right away you will have to do work that promises little money but money per job right away, then build a name for your self and make your way up from there.

If you don't need money right away I would work a niche site. First spend time researching and make sure you have a niche that has value but you can still win with out going broke. After you get a niche become an expert, and network with others in the niche. After that make some products and build a list. With your network you should be able to get some to promote your product with you.

    Good luck to you!

    Fezd,
I unfortunately don't have time to cover all your question, but my sense is you could use some fundamental training.

Mentor's come in a wide range of skills and prices..
There are many, but my favourite in the Internet marketing arena are:
    Chris Farrell
    Brian G. Johnson
    Sean Donahoe
    Shane Melaugh

Over the last 18 month I've been trained by all of them at different times.

Chris covers all the funamentals and is very easy to follow and understand.
Brian has a smaller following but gets into much more detail
Sean is an SEO and Traffic guru!..He has a number of products as well as a great Inner Circle mentoring program that I've been in for about a year.
Shane is a fantastic marketer, and can team you what you need to know about focus and action as well as a great backlinking course. I wrote about his training in the Biggest Internet Marketing Secret.. see link below.

You can google to find any of them.

I hope that helps, and wish you all the best on your IM journey.

PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info here, I'm very glad for the info so don't take it as I'm not pleased with your help/advice.

I need a website for the 350$ i have available, i know it's lame of me to not buy everything i need to get started, but i simply have no cash to do so. If I start to use my money on stuff to learn how to build the website i would of course have awesome and valuable experience! But then I would have nothing to build my website with.

What should I do with great experience if I cant put it to use.

I kinda need to outsource the content as my mother language is Norwegian and I'm not able to produce great quality with "ok" English if you know what i mean. I want to have great content on my blog, But if you tell me that it's impossible with 350$ i have to rethink my strategy.

These 350$ i have is my first and last chance to make a website, so all info i can afford at the moment is free information.

Is it possible to get a website up and running with 3 keywords and some content for 270$ (80$ is for a wso I'm planning to use) I would need to outsource the content, and i would need to read up on how to do "on-page" seo and work hard to find keywords.

The list building thing sounds something that i could do, but I don't get the list building technique at all. should i rank a keyword on the squeesepage to get it ranked in the serps? Can I maybe use a popup opt-in form on my blog?
I mean if i was looking for "best Led tv" and google 1st page was a squeesepage that I had to opt-in on, i would leave it as I wanted to know what the best led tv was, not sign up for a newsletter for instance.

I'm not saying that this method doesn't work, I just have no idea how it works

You either have enough money to outsource or you do not. With $350, you do not. Which isn't a bad thing as you need to learn to do things by yourself.
From your $350 budget you need to spend only around $20 in your first month, which is - domain registration and hosting. Get your hosting from HostGator and others have suggested places to register domains.

Then you need to roll-up your sleeves and get on with it.

Your written English is fine for blog posts and OK for mid-quality article writing. You do not need to outsource writing at this stage. If you do, you'll go broke quickly. The amount of content you need to make a website 'noticed' is going to cost way more than your budget.

Forget the sequence of events you've been using. The FIRST step is to decide 'what subjects do you know something about'. If you don't know anything about anything then give the $350 back to your mom.

Think like this - what do I know things about that I can share with others....am I passionate about any of these topics to the point where I'd like to research and learn more then share my learning and knowledge with other people.

Hopefully you can come up with a couple topics you're passionate about. Then, think about ways in which other people make money from these subjects. Then, start to think about possible ways of making money that other people are not fully utilizing - is there some unique angle, some abstract approach, something that can set you aside from others?

if you can't come up with something unique, then you need to start doing the competitor analysis on the search terms others are already using. So you've lost a little advantage but it's still possible to move forward. You've already stated that you know how to do competitor research and analysis, so get on with it.

Once you've targeted a niche that you're knowledgeable in and you have your keywords, the rest is easy, it's just time and discipline/routine.

Use Wordpress - you install it in two-clicks from your Hostgator Cpanel.

Find a theme that you can work with and that somewhat compliments the niche that you're working on. (post back here if you need help finding a theme).
Get your theme installed and start playing with your new blog until you get a feel for it....shouldn't take more than half a day.

        Now start posting.

Start writing about your subject in a non commercial way. Share your knowledge with people. Try to imagine that you are writing and there are 5000 people waiting to read what you've written. Make it worthy of their attention.
Then you need to let others know you are there by getting out into the world and saying to people 'hey, I have a blog and this is where I live'.

This serves a dual function, people will see your links and so will Google.
Use Warrior Forum for ideas on where to post your links. Do NOT outsource this or use software, do it manually yourself, no matter how frustrating it is just keep doing it. Look for quality sites, forums, blogs, directories etc. Use Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

So far you're still in your first month and you should still have $330 left.

Now you're feeling frustrated because you haven't made any money yet (no one does in their first 4 weeks) and you're thinking you'll buy yourself a few WSO's and some other tools. Don't do it!! You'll get side-tracked and end up in the abyss. Just keep reading and probing people for help and ideas. Be careful who you listen to that's giving free advice - before you embark down some new path get a second opinion.

Building a business from scratch and with $350 isn't easy, so be realistic about your goals.

Keep building content on your blog. Write to some people and see if they like your content and would they be willing to share it with their readers? Send them an article, even if you have to write it specifically for them at first.
Setup a free Google analytics account and get a Wordpress free plugin which hooks your blog into analytics. Start to look at your traffic and you should start to see some pattern in what keywords people are using to find you - Here's an important point:

You may see people landing on your site using keywords you hadn't specifically optimized for. Look at the keywords and decide if they're useful to you. If they are, then fantastic. It means you're on the radar for some keywords and you know what they are. Now build more content around those 'new' keywords and you'll see your traffic spike in a matter of days. It's pointless struggling with keywords that are 100 pages deep, if you can get keywords on the radar, capitalize on them.

Now you can start to slot-in some monetizing tactics. It's pointless spending too much time doing this at the very beginning, because:
1 - you have no traffic, and
2 - you may have to 'tweak' the primary keywords based on what I've just said above.

Forget Google ads unless you've become one of the lucky few and your blog traffic has taken off and you have 1000's of people hitting your site daily. Find yourself a good Clickbank product that compliments your niche and get behind it. It had better be something you'd be willing to buy yourself because you're going to be asking others to buy it. When people buy based on your explicit recommendation they're essentially buying from you. Take on board the responsibility of ONLY recommending good quality products. This philosophy is key to building a real business asset.

Start to talk about the products you're endorsing and create some reviews on your site.
Be sure to capture leads in some way. Not all your visitors are going to be in 'buy mode' in fact most won't. But if you can give them something for free, in exchange for their name/email, you'll eventually catch them when they are ready to spend.

None of this is easy and it takes time. But you can start today. Just roll-up your sleeves and lose the mindset of paying others to do the work for you. You need to learn these things yourself, pick up a few knocks and learn from them.
Set yourself daily, weekly and monthly goals. Don't be afraid to revise them continually but never extend a deadline unless you've explored every option for keeping it on track. - A lot of Internet Marketing is about discipline. You don't have to be a marketing genius you just need to know how to do basic research, formulate a plan, then adapt your lifestyle towards achieving the goals you've set.

What a great reply! This method i never heard of and it sounds rather simple. I think ill go with this method as it sounds like something i can do. I have a few questions though.

Does it matter if I post a lot the first day, week, month? or should i only post a few every day?

I have 5-8 hours every day except weekends, so i have time to post a lot. I'm worried about my spelling, there is a spelling program on this forum and that's why I don't miss-spell a lot. Is there a way to integrate a spelling program on my blog?

If I can't post more then a few posts a day, maybe i should get two blogs? As I want to try to fast forward to profits as much as I can without letting the content/site getting penalized for it.

Hostgator and Godaddy seems good for domain and web-hotel. does it cost 20$ per month or is it per year? I have used "one (dot) com" in the past and that costs me 50$ per year, but everyone keeps saying Hostgator and Godaddy is the way to go. I have no idea how to link my domain name to the web-hotel when they are from different sites.
Can i be banned from hostgator? or godaddy for that matter? Without doing anything bad of course, I have heard of people getting banned or losing theyre web-hotel for no reason.

I have a site from a year ago that's totally empty but afraid of it being penalized cause of some black hat stuff that i wasn't aware of a year ago. Is it possible to check if its penalized in any way?

What kind of web-hotel should i buy for a blog? do i need much or less?

No, it's fine to post as often as you like. Just try to ensure that there's some quality in what you post. Sometimes when you post a lot, there's a loss of quality.

Spell check will be a function of your browser. If you download a free copy of Firefox browser it should have spell-check enabled. For longer posts and articles you could also use MS Word or a spell-check enabled text editor.

If I can't post more then a few posts a day, maybe i should get two blogs? As I want to try to fast forward to profits as much as I can without letting the content/site getting penalized for it.
Two blogs won't get you there twice as quickly but half as quickly.

You need to focus your efforts initially. When you get more proficient you can start to think about diversifying, but for now just stay focused on one blog. The reason many people go off and create a second, third, fourth blog is often because they haven't done the necessary keyword and competitor analysis on their first blog. You need to get that step right, so that you're sure you are investing your time and effort into something which will pay back. As you get into the research stage, post on WF and ask people what they think of your keyword options before you progress. Get some feedback.

Hostgator and Godaddy seems good for domain and web-hotel.
The preferred industry term, at least in the USA is 'web hosting' or just 'hosting.

does it cost 20$ per month or is it per year? I have used "one (dot) com" in the past and that costs me 50$ per year, but everyone keeps saying Hostgator and Godaddy is the way to go.
The Hostgator Hatchling plan will be perfect for you. There's an option to pre-pay for a full year or pay monthly. Obviously it's cheaper if you pay for the full year. Personally I recommend you go for the monthly payment plan, which will cost a little under $8 USD per month.

I have no idea how to link my domain name to the web-hotel when they are from different sites.
You will receive an activation email from Hostgator usually within 24 hours of signing up for your host account. In this email will be something called a Domain Name Server or DNS. It will look something like this -
            NS1.websitewelcome3000.com
            NS2.websitewelcome3000.com
When you receive this you need to login to wherever you've registered your domain name and look for something called 'DNS Management' (it will probably be worded differently but almost always contains 'DNS') Click on 'modify' or 'update' and replace whatever is in there with the two addresses above.
Depending on where you register your domain, Hostgator may have a more detailed explanation on their website. It's very straightforward, just ask when you get to that stage if you're not sure.
Can i be banned from hostgator? or godaddy for that matter? Without doing anything bad of course, I have heard of people getting banned or losing theyre web-hotel for no reason.
No, you won't be banned unless you do something foolish like sending out spam email from your website.

I have a site from a year ago that's totally empty but afraid of it being penalized cause of some black hat stuff that i wasn't aware of a year ago. Is it possible to check if its penalized in any way?
Not really. Even if it shows in Google index that doesn't mean it isn't carrying some penalty. You are starting afresh so pick a new domain. Also, my understanding of what you've said so far is that you haven't picked a niche yet, so that will influence your choice of domain names.

What kind of web-hotel should i buy for a blog? do i need much or less?
The hostgator option described above is what you need.
            Answers shown above in bold.

Sorry for my delay responding.. been offine since last post.

You arent going to get "personal" training with a basic Chris Farell membership.. Its about $30 bucks a month and no one will personally mentor you for that.

However, you get all the basic video training you need to move forward with the project.

To get the more personalized training from anyone its going to cost much more unfortunately.

But, that said, having thought about your issue, and budget, I think the Chris Farell basic membership will get you on the right track.

    Thanks,
    Fezd
Okay Fezd. In my opinion, you should start out your path to success by first creating a Squeeze Page. A great example of what I mean can be found at this website. This system will show you exactly what to do to get started as a newbie.

After you start to build your list of subscribers, you are going to want to make sure that you build a relationship with this list to let them know that they can trust you as an individual. In the mean time you are going to offer your subscribers nothing buy FREE resources and information based on what niche you know a lot about.

Keep doing this until your list reaches at least 5,000 subscribers before you send an affiliate link out to your list to receive commissions. After that, simply repeat all of the steps mentioned above and you will begin to notice that your business will begin to thrive.

Two other great sources for you to advertise your Squeeze Page once you create it is trafficswarm.com (sign up for the PRO account) and listbonus.com. I wish the best for your success

    Hi Fezd,
I would highly recommend that you google "Chris Farrell" membership site.
He's the finest teacher and mentor I've seen in 3 years of searching. I'm not an affiliate of Chris's . I just admire his teaching. Look him up. You won't regret it.

Okey, I will check him out May I ask what I can expect from a mentor? I checked his site for a brief moment yesterday but didn't understand the site 100%.

Will he help me personally? and if so how much help can I expect from him? 1 hour a day? or do I get him for myself for like a day?

Sorry for the Newbie questions but that's what I am at this stage

I can see that this might get me some extra cash and valuable experience, but i feel like I don't have what it takes to write articles and take money for it. As I mentioned in a earlier post, I Feel like I don't have the english skills or writing skills required. That is why I feel like i should outsource the content for my own site. I cant write content that will make the readers stay and read the whole article or make it interesting. Right now i have no expertice to offer anyone

But i thank you for your help

My biggest problem is probably the lack of taking action. But i kinda need to know what to start to take action or at least that's how i feel. I have read probably thousands of posts and articles on how to make money on the internet, so i am very confused as i know A LOT about how to do it in a thousand ways, but I know nothing of doing it one single way. That is a big problem for me, as i just need guidance to how to make it one way and sticking to that way. so basically my one and only question is what is a good way to make profits within a month or two and then make the profits bigger and bigger?

I know there are thousands ways of doing it and i have probably just asked the same question a thousand ways in this thread. I might just have to take action i guess.

I have heard that adsense is not the way to go in 2012, is this true?

You do sound really confused. Most start like this as it can seem so overwhelming at first.

When you decided to look into internet marketing was there anything that sparked and started you looking? Did you read something and said "I can do that".

What was it? can you replicate it.

There is loads of stuff on YouTube if you put in, "how to start an internet business". This may give you an idea.

There is no point on here any one saying this is how to do key word research or this is what you want for that until you have decided for yourself what you are going to do and take the plunge. Then you can ask specifics about traffic, Seo, list building etc etc.

As I said, go on YouTube and look at the videos that explain how to set up Word Press, if you are going to use that for you site and decide on what niche you are going to start in.
I know it is difficult but we have all been there.

Take a quick look at my video below it's free, if you don't like it move on until you find what you want.

I wish you all the best in you business venture.

I understand you do not have any special skill at the present moment to offer. So, you want to start your online venture with a website.

You can do that, no doubt. But, then also you have to think logically and professionally in order to get success working in the right direction.

Being an experienced worker in this web related industry since 2004, I know what it needs to make it BIG online. So, I can help you in your journey with my suggestion, tips and guidance from inception of a website/a product/ a service. If you are interested, feel free to contact me.

        Cheers!!

    Hi Fedz,

You've got a great start, asking here for folks who've done it.

    Can I make a suggestion?

Get on Squidoo or Hubpages TODAY and set up a single quality lens or hub.

They split ad revenues with you.

Then you will have one possible money making venture out there before you go to sleep.

    Best luck,

    Christine

HubPages/Squidoo are good for finding good niches. Wizzley is new and looking impressive, with a nice community feel.

Don't outsource content writing, I've not yet bought or seen any good quality outsourced writing.

Ultimately you need to write about something you're passionate about. This week I found a new site in my niche, and I was blown away by the quality of the content. We all need to raise our game.

First, best method is just offer service in fiverr.com or in warrior forum, you can get some quick bucks, also you can put up in signature section here, about your service like writing articles... now days fiverr becoming very saturated, so you need to do some competitive analysis of all other gigs(ads) and come out some thing upbeat.

For long run - as most member recommends, need build a list, first find out good niche, mostly go by your interest in selection of good niche, write lots and lots articles.. post in article directory like ezine.com, do social bookmarking of your site, slowly build links...
once your list grows big then you can shoot lots of offers relevant to your niche and get converted effortlessly.

Yes William you're right. That's why these days it is crucial to start internet marketing from the beginning. Not a lot of people tell you this. Most everyone tells you what to do without taking into consideration that you have no clue what the whole picture entails. Once you understand the whole picture, you calm down and make rational decisions. You can then also easily go into one direction and stick with it. Just my 2 cents.

    Fezd,

I recommend you get your training wheels by buying a already established website. I did a training course on buying sites on Flippa.com and found heaps of sites there that are already established and making money. Your budget should allow for one with change. It won't be brilliant but at least you are not starting from scratch. There are a few traps to watch when buying a site so you best to research that also.

There is a lot to learn about IM and it is a massive overload. Good luck

      Hi RiannaMav,

That's an interesting point. I'd be really interested to hear where you got the Flippa training from. That sounds like it could be a goer for people like Fezd (and me too - lol).

I'm also a newbie from the money making point of view, and have been studying IM for about 9 months - sigh! I have no knowledge of the pros and cons of buying an established site, but I'd be keen to learn.

If I can ask a question please, - when you buy a site, do you know if you gain complete control over the site? For example you may want to alter or tweak it, or do further SEO etc.

My best wishes to you, et al

Hi Fezd, you can try Hostgator. Personally I use both Hostgator and Godaddy but I prefer Hostgator better. Hostgator allows you to have a site and a wordpress blog at the same time. I'm not sure if Godaddy has that function.

As a newbie you need to decide on what you want to do. So select a niche and then look for products that you might wanna sell with regards to that niche. You could sell a product that is not yours (affiliate marketing) or you may write a ebook if you have the time.

Then concentrate on driving traffic to your site. Traffic that you drive should be targeted (in relation to your niche)

You are not going to get a free mentor. A person who values their time is not going to hold somebodies hand when they make excuses. You have the money or the ability to pay for a mentor.
    You are wrong.
    1. I offered myself as a free mentor (IM is my hobby, why not help others if I like to talk about it?)
    2. I value my time, but money won't make me happy. I have (way) more then enough, and in my opinion helping somebody is worth more than any money (as long as I have enough to life from ofc)
    3. $350 are not enough to pay a mentor and get a profitable website running in a reasonable amount of time.

    Just my 2 cents.

    best regards,
    Mike

There is nothing wrong with using wordpress and anyone can learn how to use it. I was completely ignorant with anything having to do with computers and am now making some consistant money off my wordpress blog. Not sure what is the easiest. Clickbank is great because you can make a pretty good amount per each sale. Amazon is good because it is trusted by the viewers. I am a clickbank person myself.

I would suggest that as a newbie you try to find something that you are either very knowledgable about or that you are very interested in. It makes coming up with content and getting motivated a lot easier. I would also steer clear of pretty much anything very competitive. (but that is just my opinion) As far as keyword research goes, you can rank a lot easier if you find good long tail keywords. Things that are more specific, don't be afraid to target words with only a couple thousand exact searches. (I target terms as low as a few hundred and get views from them.) I'm sure some big marketers would say these numbers are way too low, but when you are first getting started it is helpful to target terms that you actually have a chance at ranking at.

Probably not and get good quality work. But why outsource everything anyway???? Some of these things are pretty simple to learn and will help you learn some extra skills.

    Hi

The most important part is getting started, even getting your first website online is an achievement so focus on that.

If you are short on budget it's no problem, write about something that people buy and you have knowledge on.

You are in Norway, why not start a website about Norway ? Places to visit , ie city breaks to Oslo, Norwegian cruises etc...

Set up a free website with wordpress, buy a domain and you are in business. There are lots of travel companies with affiliate programmes you can apply for. You can also place google adsense on your site to start with although I don't recommend this in most cases but it's the easiest way to get started.

If you want to write 5 articles on this topic I will help you out and edit them if required, just send me a PM.

Need ideas for content ? Here you go, you could have a website up in 24 hours for under $10.

Nothing wrong with asking for advice and what I like about this forum is the willingness of others to share their thoughts, some will, some will not. To act before you do research is foolish in my opinion.

I own an extremely successful brick and mortar business, but have wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars in my early years because I acted before I thought...research first prior to making a decision, some have the philosophy strike while the iron is hot, (act before you think it through) but when you strike when the iron is hot you occasional miss the mark and smash your finger, causing yourself injury. Same is true here, if you act before you think there's a high likelihood you will waste all of the money Your mother gave you.

I can agree that making money through things like Fiverr or Article writing is a good way to get your feet wet and make some slow easy cash and get some other ideas started!

WordPress is the best platform you can use for a website and blog but you want to download WordPress from WordPress dot Org not WordPress dot com. With dot org you have total control of your site and can create websites AND blogs whereas dot com you have less control and can only use it for blogs.
