Converting a Go To Webinar file to mp4?

Hi everyone.... I would like to know the easiest way of converting the GoToWebinar file (wmv) to mp4 format. I don't have the ability to record it myself using Camtasia while the webinar is going on, so I need a cost effective option to convert it. I tried hiring someone on Odesk, and the output file was HORRIBLE. It was blurry and flickered a lot.

Any words of wisdom for the easiest way to do this?

    Download the free software Handbrake!

    It's for Mac or PC and it's THE ONLY conversion tool I use for web video and I do a lot of work for clients as well!

    I use isky converter but almost any converter software will do it for you or you can outsource which is what i do most of the time but if I do it myself then i use the software

    Handbrake is great I use it too.

    Make sure you set your webinar to record as a wmv and not to use the goto codec. You can't really do it ahead of time. I believer you have to do it when you are starting the webinar.

    That way you can edit it too beofre running through handbrake.

    Check out the free mp4 converter on the site linked below. It is about 3/4ths the way down the page.

    Handbrake is amazing. I use it for all of my online videos, to make sure they are in MP4 format and web optimized.

    See this tutorial. Specifically go to the 2nd video and fast forward to the 1:57 mark. Shows you how to use HandBrake.

    Well, that didn't work unfortunately. As soon as I tried to import the wmv file, I got an error saying it was either protected or not supported? This is just the wmv file (Windows Media Player ready) that Go To Webinar produces. Any ideas?

    Got this tip from Jason Flad.

    Use: Free Video Converter - Any Video Converter Freeware - convert video free to AVI, MP4, WMV, MKV, MPEG, FLV, SWF, 3GP, DVD, MP3, WebM, iPad, Android, PSP, Tablet PC

    Free and works on both Mac and PC

    I will check my settings and report back when I am on my main iMac.

    What we (2 RockStars) do for our webinars.... is we just have an extra laptop logged in as a guest. Then we record that screen using screenflow (we are on macs) but you can use camtasia if on PC as well.



    We love this so much more. The video and audio comes out better and you can record the full screen.

    Its worth the investment if you dont have an extra machine to do this.

    Learned that trick from Jack Mize while we were hanging with him in Vegas.

      Yes I have been doing this for years actually and I know many others have too. (It's really not much of a trick anymore..) It's also so much better to be able to review your own recording compared to the rebroadcast which may not have full video controls.

      I have often recorded a webinar using screenflow when enjoying some quality time, only to quickly review it later that night. Makes for better scheduling.

        Yea... Not really a secret... But more of a... It comes out better than recording it as wmv and converting it... kinda thing

        Also in our case (using macs) we can even record in wmv using gotowebinars CP.

      What I have seen recommended is to convert it from the wmv format to avi and then mp4 using your favorite video editing tool like.... Handbrake or Camtasia or anything that can handle avi's.

    From an article which specially introduces what is GoToMeeting recording files, I know that:

    GoToMeeting is an online meeting, desktop sharing, and video conferencing software that allow the user to meet with other computer users, customers, clients or colleagues via the Internet in real time. The recording file format of GoToMeeting is WMV with G2M3/G2M4 Codec which is only compatible with GoToMeeting.

    To import GoToMeeting files to other software, you'd better to convert the files to more compatible formats like MP4, AVI, MOV, etc.
