Which affiliate % and how many tiers for maximum momentum?

Hi warriors

I'm a new warrior and just in the middle of designing my first product and would like some feedback on how to set up commissions and number of tiers in my affiliate program. The product is a digital download, not a membership site.

I am thinking 2 tiers with 50% on the first and 15% on the second and would really appreciate some wisdom from those of you who have been there and got the results.

Thanks in advance
Vince

    Vince,

Much depends on the niche, the nature of your product, where you'll be promoting it and the quality of your sales page/process.

Check out the clickbank marketplace or CJ.com - you'll be able to see the % offered by each vendor for items listed there. Are any of these in your niche?

I usually offer 60%-75% to entice affiliates. I look on it as a free sale and I'd rather have 25%-40% of a sale rather than 100% of no sale.

By the way, it has been know for product owners to offer super-affiliates rates all the way up to 100% in order to entice them, establish a name/brand and build a strong list of buyers off a super affiliates list.

    Regards,

    Der

I'd agree that you should offer much higher than 50% to attract more affiliates. It will pay off in the long run. Not just in sales but in building your list.

15% on tier two should be ok, but see what your competitors are doing.

For me personally, I like to keep majority of my product earnings. And if this is a major product of yours rather than a side project, I would tell you to give no more than 50% total. 40/10 split

If your thought process is that you won't be able to find affiliates unless you give away majority, then thats a limiting belief. Remember, you have to "sell" your affiliates on joining your affiliate program so why not sell them on a lower percentage.

I have done both, offered higher and lower commisions and sometimes it doesn't matter becuase an affiliate will promote either one.
