Making Money Online - Black Belt Style

Warriors,

The title will make sense shortly. Through my high school and college age I trained hard in self defense. I entered point-sparring, kata competition, and weapons demonstration- winning trophies and medallions.

I thought I was the best of the best, until I met someone that I consider a guru to the teachings of martial arts. He said this to me. "Traditional martial arts makes you learn 300 techniques, 12 different katas, and board breaking." He continued, "I believe if a yellow belt (just above a novice) diligently practiced the basic moves - kicking, punching, and blocking for 25 years, his fighting style would be just as effective as a certified Black Belt."

I said, "What? How can that be? The Black Belt is a Black Belt because he knows so much and knows many advanced moves?"

My guru friend responded with this enlightenment, "When you get into a fight, you go back to the basics. The basic blocks, kicks, and punches is what you will default to. All the other stuff is just flashy."

Now, I'm not telling you to work on a technique for 25 years in order to make money. But, what I am saying is this, stick with the basics! Be diligent. Practice, practice, practice, and you will become a black belt through experience.

Forget the advanced, flashy stuff and stick to the basics!

If you want to start making $100 a day, then do that "one technique" over and over, and do it well.

Article writing works, if you stay consistant.
PPC works, if you stay consistant.
Blogging works, if you stay consistant.
Adsense works, if you stay consistant.
CPA works, if you stay consistant.
I think you get my point.

"You trust the quality of what you know, not quantity." - Mr. Miyagi

If you stick with the basics and wrote 3 articles a day with your website or affiliate link attached, then within 30 days you would have 90 articles written, traffic coming in, and quite possibly hitting your $100 a day marker.

If you worked on PPC, did split campaigns, found a good campaign and multiplied it, in 30 days you could quite possibly hit your $100 a day marker.

Be consistant and be patient with the little stuff!

The yellow belts only see a profit of $12, get impatient, and tell themselves to move on to more advanced, flashy Black Belt techniques because that's where the money is...

True, but you need to "first learn stand, then learn fly." - Mr. Miyagi

If you don't take time to learn the basics, how are you going to be successful with the advanced techniques?

You must have a strong foundation, you must practice, practice, practice, then you can become a Black Belt in Online Marketing.

Here's to your financial freedom - Black Belt Style

All the best,
Jeff

A very nice post. However, I disagree. In online, I have found diversity to be key. Not saying to be all over the place but to diversify enough so you have different income streams.

So if Google deletes your account, Paypal decides not to allow certain types of marketing that you are heavily vested in, the search engine changes its algo and your sites tank....etc. you have other things to fall back on.

      Greetings!

Yes, I agree with you. Any wise entrepeneur will tell you never to put all your eggs in one basket.

This advice is for the "yellow belts", not the more seasoned

My point here is more towards those who try a technique, make no or little money and think there's got to be a faster, better technique to bring in the cash.

I am saying slow down! Practice it for 30 days, read about it, find a guru who is doing it. Be consistant and the money will come.

And yes... master one technique and move on to the next one to build a multiple-stream income. (Black Belt)

      Most importantly, take action!

Don't miss out on the big opportunities, because you are unwilling to sweat through the small stuff.

      All the best...

I think it is good advice to focus on one thing until accomplish you the goal of $100 a day, for someone that is new to IM this would work well until they become more expeirenced with other money making techniques.

This is good advice for those who are new to IM. A lot get overwhelmed and frustrated because they are trying too many things all at once instead of just first focusing and getting really good at 1 traffic method in 1 niche. This is the quickest way to make a small profit, then you can diversify and scale it up later for bigger profits.

I like the way your wrote your story. I think you should focus at one thing at a time and become great at it. And then begin to diversify and become great at other things so that you have multiple income streams

  • A really great post. Essentially this is where the saying "scale it up" comes from. You hear it to death around here, but it is so true. If you can find a PPC campaign that makes you just $20 a day, all you need to do is create 10 similar campaigns and you've got $200 days. IM really is that easy if you just keep focusing on the basics.

      Thanks for the great comments!

      It is that simple!

Master a technique. Learn and study all you can from the real gurus about that technique. Execute it well and make bank. Then move on to another technique and master it.

Slow and steady wins the race... kinda like Tai Chi. (lol)

      All the best,
      Jeff
