I don't really know much about Google plus, but are any of you using it to get sales or traffic. If so is it worth the time and effort.

For any online business, Google + is worth the time and effort.

At the bare minimum you should be creating a personal profile page and Google + business page.

Also if you ever decide to implement the Google Author code you're going to need your plus page!

      Agreed with that!

      In all cases I would
      - create a profile,
      - fill out the about page
      - add links to your main sites to the profile
      - put Google's author code on your site.
      - put a plus1 button on your site

The above things apply, even if you do not want to engage in social networking at the moment.

      Regarding social networking and selling:

At this moment I would not use g+ primarily for selling. I'd start to build a few hundred followers first, and only about 5% of my posts I would use for promotion.

Right, like most social sites you don't want to blast your sales message without first buiding relationships. I've gotten sales as a result of some of my g+ posts, but I would say the greater value is in the dynamic conversations I get to participate in.

Following Greg's and Ralf's suggestions to create a personal g+ profile, a g+ business page and to go through the steps to verify authorship will only help your business in the long run.

Gooogle is introducing this new "Semantic value" thing and you would be well advised to have as many "likes" and followers on the social networks as you can. I do not know to what extent the new changes will be affected by "likes" but it will certainly help to have them.

Google has stated they are making it a part of their core. I don't think I would ignore it.

The basics have been covered. Find some people who you want to follow and start building a relationship. It is like every social network. you have to build trust to start making sales.

It is - it's probably not working that well at the moment, but something tells me it's gonna get bigger and better, a part of the "whole" Google experience.
