Complete idiot! Need help!

Ok. So I will be the first to admit that I am clueless about anything related to IM. I joined the Maverick Money Makers for brief period (until I discovered the mountains of crap there) and discovered affiliate marketing through clickbank. According to the MMM, my only "training", I need to buy a domain from godaddy, and then forward that domain to my affiliate link. However, everywhere I look here people are talking about setting up web sites with landing pages and links from there to their affiliate programs. This method makes more sense but I have no clue how to do any web site creation. I have purchased domain names but ultimately only know how to forward them.

Please please please. Anyone who can answer my questions will be much appreciated...

1. Where is the best place to get domain names?
2. How to you create a site for that domain and where do you get the tools required?
3. Can you use one domain for multiple affiliate products or for each product you promote do you have to purchase a new domain and make a whole new page?
4. Is the forwarding method wrong? Or just not as affective? Or what?

Oh and 5. How difficult would it be for a complete idiot like me, who truely belives there is money to be made in this business, and is more than willing to try despite low income, to make roughly 4 grand in two months or less?

Thank you all for any input!

P.S.: I love this forum! So glad I found it!

    1) GoDaddy for lowest price. Namecheap for best service. I use GoDaddy mostly, unless I need speedy service.

    2) Get an WYSIWYG HTML editor. You can find free ones on Google.

    3) You can do either. You can do subdomains or subfolders for different products. Save on domain costs but might reduce conversions.

    4) Where's the traffic coming from? Generally a landing page is more effective, but domain forwarding isn't "wrong." Tons of people still make money from it.

To answer your question - Quite hard. You'll need to put in a ton of work to get to 4 grand. Partly it's the amount and partly it's the marketing knowledge, but a large part is also learning to push your financial comfort zone. It's more than you're used to making and it takes time for your system to adjust.

Like all things there is a learning curve to IM as well.

So, before you spend another dime I suggest you get some info.
Best way to do is to signup for 'giveaways'
    so,
step 1 - get a new gmail account
step 2 - search for 'best im giveaways' on google
step 3 - signup for these giveaways and download tons of ebooks, software, templates and graphics.

now, organizing all this is going to be important and then focus on 1-2 that you like

make folders for say 'blogging' 'adsense' 'adwords' 'minisite templates' 'graphics' and so on

obviously you want to get a 'general' idea on how each of these work - I think if you read 2-3 ebooks on each topic it should give you a good idea.

OK, here is the IMPORTANT part - PICK ONE method of making money - say blogging - and really put all your efforts in that for a month and then take it from there.

GoDaddy for registration and NOTHING else!

The fastest way to get a full-fledged website up with limited training these days is Joomla! Joomla.org has tons of resources and videos for somebody with ZERO HTML experience. However if you just want a simple landing page then a service like LandingPageGenerator might be your solution.

As for making 4g in less than 2 months, you would have to be quite fortunate to fall over a mountain of nickels that quick, but I suppose it can be done. I would certainly recommend on picking ONE thing and just diving into it with everything you can muster - become an expert in that field.

Don't be led astray by internet marketers diverting your attention.

    1. Where is the best place to get domain names?
    > enom.. nothing against godaddy, but unlike other registrars they will not only kill your hosting but also kill your domain if they get complaints ( happens if you are into blackhat) which is quite lame.

    2. How to you create a site for that domain and where do you get the tools required?

    > frontpage or dreamweaver

    3. Can you use one domain for multiple affiliate products or for each product you promote do you have to purchase a new domain and make a whole new page?

    > if you have the money get a domain name as close to the affiliate product you are selling. If not then use subdomains with a generic site name like say imreviews.com etc

      1. Where is the best place to get domain names?
      Godday.
      2. How to you create a site for that domain and where do you get the tools required?
Kampozer - it is free html editor.
      3. Can you use one domain for multiple affiliate products or for each product you promote do you have to purchase a new domain and make a whole new page?
Just pck few affiliate prgrams like 5 - 10 first. Go with seperate web sites. .info domains are very cheap like 99 cents. Work and promote them sincerely ...

      4. Is the forwarding method wrong? Or just not as affective? Or what?
You mean forwarding affiliate link to merchant site. Don't know about it. But registering a site is a good way.

Oh and 5. How difficult would it be for a complete idiot like me, who truely belives there is money to be made in this business, and is more than willing to try despite low income, to make roughly 4 grand in two months or less?
4 grand in 2 months? Because you are still at your web site building stages. So quite hard I guess... but start today, who knows

I looked at MMM also. Some good info, but I had a hard time implementing their suggestions. I haven't tried Kompozer, I have tried PageBreeze and it's pretty intuitive and free. I've used Godaddy, but since then I've heard a lot bad press. If you are planning on having affiliates selling stuff on your website for you, this can be bad. They may end up spamming a getting you site closed down. I'd look at the other suggestions in this forum. Good Luck.

    1. Where is the best place to get domain names?

    GoDaddy, I guess.

    2. How to you create a site for that domain and where do you get the tools required?

Either you outsource this work or you create your own. If you intend to create your own then get a free WYSIWYG editor like KompoZer - Easy web authoring

Even if you use a WYSIWYG editor, it's always go to have some basic HTML knowledge.

Tizag Tutorials has an excellent tutorial on HTML. I started out from there.

    3. Can you use one domain for multiple affiliate products or for each product you promote do you have to purchase a new domain and make a whole new page?

    I'll skip this one.

    4. Is the forwarding method wrong? Or just not as affective? Or what?

It's not wrong by any means. I know many gurus who use it. Jonathan Mizel uses cyberwave.com to redirect to affiliate sites. He changes the affiliate program over time.

Oh and 5. How difficult would it be for a complete idiot like me, who truely belives there is money to be made in this business, and is more than willing to try despite low income, to make roughly 4 grand in two months or less?

    Totally depends on you!
