WOOT! I found several Youtube videos that show the very basics of making an ebook cover using Gimp.

Note, part of me still hates Gimp with a fiery burning passion, for being so effin complicated and non-intuitive, BUT...these videos were enough for me to make the simple covers that I currently need. Anything more complicated, I'm coming to Fiverr or the Warrior Forum to find me some talent. Which I don't have, when it comes to design.

I use Fiverr, and am very satisfied with the results. Try "Nataliepink" and "designerhash"

If you are like me and don't have basic design skills, then cover design is a major challenge. I'm trying to learn to do at least simple covers, so I don't have to wait for designers to finish my covers for me. But Colin, thank you for the Fiverr suggestions! I appreciate it!

For an artistically challenged person like me, it's not worth the frustration of trying to do ebook covers myself. I recommend getting yourself a graphics guru and having them do it.

I use MonsterCovers | E-Book covers and sales graphics for your Web site and Mitch has them done usually within 24 hrs.

  I just checked and yes, their ebook covers are very attractive. What I am trying to do is design something extremely simple, just an unaltered picture with my name and title on it. Following those tutorials I linked to, I can do that. If it were anything more complex I would absolutely hire someone to do it for me.
