You cannot post affiliate links in the resource box at most article directories.

Posting on article directories is still effective if your goal is to get other publishers to find and reprint your content elsewhere. To be effective doing this, you should lead with quality content that people are happy to have read.

The article directories themselves no longer have the clout that they did have when Bum Marketing was written. But, if you use them the way they was intended to be used -- to give other online publishers a chance to find your content and reprint it -- then they work just fine.

Bum marketing probably works, but I would call that article directory spamming.

Article syndication is now working for us since the end of 2010. Means you write a high quality article and put in on high traffic forums, blogs, online ezines, offline print, radio, magazines, journals etc.

Guest blogging is another way to do article syndication correct, just make sure you form relationships with those authoritive figures in your niche who have a chit load of traffic. You will see some insane results. Especially if you are send the traffic to a squeeze page. This works gangbuster for us.

No, I don't think it works anymore. Article directories have wised up. Reputed directories like ezinearticles.com don't allow you to post your referral links in the resource box, and there is no use in posting your article in less popular article directories; they'd not bring you any traffic.

You can create a website and then post your website link in the resource box. That's the only way to do this.

You could also start looking into guest posting. Gives me quite a nice burst of traffic everytime.

Syndication and guest posting might be the only sources left that can get you insane traffic without having to wonder if Google is going to wipe away your business or playing the hope game by submitting to directories.

I like the idea of guest blogging but I can't find good websites. Any ideas?

    No.

Instead of using article directories, convert to video and G plus pages. Those rank much better.
