Niche Market Reaearch.

I'm new to the Internet Marketing gig. This is my 1st post on the warrior forum.

I have selected a Niche market and now i'm trying to determine the best method of researching what products sell in this Niche.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Beeman Racing

Check out Amazon, and do a search in google using the shopping filter.

those are good places to start in general.

if you have any special type of product you want to promote (for example ebooks), you add the keyword.

Thank You. So if the items show up high on the searches then those are the products moving?

I wouldn´t say there is a 1 to 1 relationship there. Take those on first page and go to google keyword external tool, there you can see the searches.

and then you can still go on refining, looking at the long term stats of the keyword for example.

another cool place to look for niches is the "for dummies" line. If they sell it, there is a market.

For newbies, Amazon is a great place to start. They are a trusted source and they do a lot of the work for you.

Go to Amazon and search under popularity - drop down box at the right or use the bestsellers search; Amazon.com Best Sellers: The most popular items on Amazon for products in your niche.

Read the product reviews etc. to find a quality product. And make sure you do the research to see if you can compete for it.

Check out who your competitors are and visit their sites to see what they are selling. If lots of them are selling a particular product, chances are that product is a hot selling product. You can sell the same product to start with.

Do a search on Google Adword, make sure that the product keyword has high search volume and not too much competition.

You can also check out eBay Pulse to find hot products in you niche if you are selling physical product.

Bear in mind that physical products convert better than digital products.

      All the best!

Depending on the niche, the marketplace on Clickbank.com may be a good place if you want to sell software or ebooks.

Not knowing whether the niche are more likely to have physical or information products - My 2 cents worth is:
for physical products try Amazon.com and Ebay.com
and for digital products start with Clickbank.com
On all three these sites you can determine the popularity of products and after shortlisting some products you can use the google keyword tool to find the keywords associated with the products and the search volumes

It would be a good idea to start with what robfts said. These will give you the general trends on what surfers are searching for, if you can provide what they are searching for then you'll be in the profit.

I like to check out what other's are selling in the same niche.
Just search for info in your niche thru Google or Yahoo and check out some sites.
Also look over at what's being sold in the ads that show up too.

Just as "there are many ways to skin a cat" there are many ways to research products and keywords. As you say you've already selected a niche, your best bet is to check out your competition. Hopefully, they've done some research you can piggyback onto and get an idea of what works for the niche.
If you're building a list related to the niche (people who are interested in the niche), which I hope you are, asking them what they want is helpful.
If it is s niche where forums are prevalent, you can try searching for problems you can solve, which will help you determine which types of products or services to promote. One trick in forums is to search for phrases like "How do I". This will help you identify potential problems you can help solve.
The "For Dummies" or "Complete Idiot's" series mentioned by Sandra Martinez can be good indicators there is money to be made in the niche. Another thing to look for is magazines about the niche. Magazines are also a good indicator of money to be made in a niche. If you do find a magazine, try to leaf through an issue to see what ads are in it. That will help point you to products the niche is interested in.
These are but a few of the many possible approaches to determining what to promote. It helps to think like your target audience. If you had a problem in the niche, how would you go about trying to find a solution? Try to figure out how to be the way they use to find their solution.
Good luck, I hope you have much success. I hope this helps.

Yeah, check out clickbank to see what other people in your niche is offering. You might want to consider it, depending on the "gravity of sales".

If the products you promote are physical, use sites like Amazon. If the products you will be promoting are digital, use Clickbank.
